I am reminded of Jon Snow after hearing from Obnoxioustv's Blog about the case of Bishop Paul Morton's unacknowledged out-of-wedlock daughter who is now an adult. She reached out to the public about the struggle with having a father who is a famous pastor and leader of the entire Full Gospel Fellowship.
The good bishop did respond to criticisms as a result. His main response? “It was a mistake that happened 40 YEARS ago.” He said this a couple of times as if that was supposed to explain everything. Who cares about then? What are you doing now? Through the whole video, he still never mentions his daughter's name – An'etra by the way – not once. It could have been a good opportunity for him introduce the world to her, but he chose to keep her relegated to the Wall while the church people in attendance consented with supportive Amens. What is wrong with us? I was so offended at Bishop Paul Morton's video response, I decided to write this article for An'etra Morton and all the other unclaimed, neglected, secret, and ostracized children of pastors. Morris Brown College is in the direct path of the new proposed Atlanta Falcons Football Stadium – which means that if the Christian communities in Atlanta don’t wake up & step up we will lose this school forever.
So instead of making Creflo Dollar even richer, how about those who are currently paying tithes pledge that about in a combined effort to satisfy the creditors of this university. If Creflo Dollar can convince over 30,000 of you to give 10% of your income so he may be edified, then I am left with no other choice than to appeal to you as Christians on behalf of Morris Brown. Atlanta's oldest African-American church, Friendship Baptist Church today just reached a $19.5 million deal with the City today that could have demolition crews at 437 Mitchell Street in only a few short months. Established in 1866 Friendship Baptist currently stands directly in the path of the new proposed Atlanta Falcons Football Stadium - and unfortunately Atlanta is not big enough for God and Football. Sorry God.
In his quest to ethnically cleanse the area surrounding the new stadium, Mayor Kasim Reed has thrown tax payers money at property owners by the fist load, making many of them offers they simply could not refuse. Only $20 million dollars for a church that should've already be classified as a historical landmark may seem like a proposal that has very little chance of going the distance, unless there is a Pastor involved, then all bets are off. When you throw that much money on the table in front of a Pastor – it makes sense why the Atlanta Falcons and Mayor Reed are on First and Goal. READ MORE

After reading about 26-year old Pastor Will being fired by the church's deacon board for attending a Rick Ross concert the night before, a flutter of hope went off in my heart as well as some mixed feelings about what exactly are the standards of the church when it comes to a pastor?
The more and more we report stories on PimpPreacher.com, it can't possibly be Timothy 3. But at Mt. Salem Baptist Church in North Carolina, the deacons decided to lift up a standard for leadership. Whether or not you agree with their decision, good for them for being empowered to do it in the first place. There are so many other pastors that NEED to be fired. As a journalist one always wants to be fair and balanced without compromising truth. Add the element of being a Christian and you are speaking an entirely different phenomenon – HOLY ACCOUNTABILITY.
Many readers of news sources, blogs, etc have absolutely no problem with breaking news stories or commentary regarding the aforementioned, but with a catch – for the most part. The catch is – so long as the person(s) being discussed can be identified as “them”.
The mindset of “them” is what enables a person to cheer and champion publicly for justice regarding victims and accountability for perpetrators. The “them” factor sets the stage for people from diverse backgrounds to agree with justice being served no matter what it takes within the parameters of law. However, a very strange occurrence takes place when the “them” is switched by force to the mindset of ‘us’. READ MORE

You will be hard-pressed to find many of the Brethren whom do not subscribe to their salvation as by grace alone, faith alone and Jesus Christ alone. We could go back and forth all day on the “how” of the salvation experience; whether you subscribe to “It was all God (Monergism)” or “A cooperation of Holy Spirit and you (Synergism)”. For this topic those things are not very significant. “The How” we got to our faith is something we can address in another article.

Pastor Michael Whitsey Indicted On Narcotics & Money Laundering

UPDATE - When we first covered the story of how Pastor Michael took money from members to run a Drug Ring many of our readers wondered why there wasn't an arrest on the same day the story broke. PimpPreacher.com is very please to report that Pastor Michael Whitsey is currently in jail and held without bond.

A Middle Tennessee pastor, first exposed by the Channel 4 I-Team for collecting money from his congregation but never telling them the church was in foreclosure, was arrested on federal charges of money laundering related to narcotics distribution.
In an indictment filed Sep. 19, a federal grand jury charged Michael Whitsey on 10 counts of money laundering, citing transactions totaling $375,000 made between May and December of 2008. U.S. attorneys claim Whitsey and others hid the proceeds from selling more than $200,000 worth of narcotics by purchasing land near his church in Murfreesboro.
The Channel 4 I-Team was first to report in August about the bankruptcy and closure of the Abundant Life Christian Center in Antioch. Parishioners told the Channel 4 I-Team that Whitsey asked for $1,000 donations to buy the church by the end of the year, without mentioning he filed for bankruptcy and would likely lose the church building to creditors.
The Antioch church closed without warning in June, moving to another location in Murfreesboro. The bank seized the Antioch building and prepared to sell everything inside to recoup some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars Whitsey owed to creditors.
Bank records contained in bankruptcy filings showed thousands of dollars in checks being written monthly from the church's bank account to Pastor Whitsey and his wife Michele.
Whitsey told the I-Team by phone in the past that parishioner's donations were used to pay the church's bills. READ MORE

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is trying to ignite his Christian Conservative base in time for his bid for the White House by advocating that Churches should be allowed to speak out on political issues. What Sen. Paul would like to see is a direct challenge to the IRS code that prevents churches from maintaining their Tax Free statues while endorsing a particular political candidate or party.

Well disaster has struck again, but this time his name was Youth Pastor Matt Pitt of The Basement Ministries in Birmingham.
According to All Alabama.com youth pastor Matt Pitt was arrested in Birmingham tonight after he ran from law enforcement and then struggled with them before he was handcuffed and arrested.
Pitt, the 30-year-old evangelist wanted on felony charges of impersonating a peace officer, was captured on 20th Street near Vulcan. Jefferson County sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian said deputies got a tip that Pitt, founder of one of the country's largest youth ministries, was on his way to a local television studio.
Sheriff's authorities notified Birmingham police officers who were the first to arrive. Christian said Pitt ran from the Vulcan area, with Birmingham officers in pursuit, to 20th Street close to the overlook. READ MORE

The wars that many Blacks have had to fight simply to attempt to achieve equal standing in America, cast a large and unfortunate shadow over the battles that many Blacks have had to fight within to get out of bed on the morning not because of the obstacles that are waiting for them out in the society, no its the battlefield of the mind. Mental Illness is one of many topics in the Black community that disgusts me, not the illness but the lack of discussion and transparency regarding this topic.
Taboo topics that have been screaming silently in our community have been just as destructive as numerous other factor s that have played a part in the crippling of a people. In are thirst for privacy and self-proclaimed need to keep things in house “what goes on in my house, stays in my house” mentality, we have neglected to speak out, to shed light on this issue that is screaming silently throughout the community.
