Our annual Easter Egg Hunt
|
Easter Egg Hunt - this annual event is held at the Intermountain Fairgrounds in McArthur every Easter Sunday at 1pm. Every year the membership of the Lions Club cook and dye 1250 fresh eggs at the Lions Hall and then hide them at the Fairgrounds along with 300 candy filled plastic eggs and 36 gold eggs which entitle the finder to a silver dollar. The entire community turns out for this event and everyone, particularly the children, have a great time!

2009 Trout Opener - more photos
|
Trout Opener - every year at the start of fishing season - the last Saturday in April - our lions club members meet on the banks of the Fall River at Bobby K Park, part of president Gary's place to have a fun day socializing and possibly catch a few trout. All lions and their friends are invited to attend - for a short slide show and more fishing information - click here.
Wild Rice Festival - one of the major events in the valley - it is a celebration of the valley's wild rice production and includes over 50 Arts & Crafts and Food vendors, wine tasting, a beer wagon and live music all afternoon. There are activities for the kids, shopping and free samples, a wild rice cook off, great raffle prizes and dancing. Three different music acts during the afternoon keep the crowd entertained, the event is hosted in the beautiful Lions Community Park, there are shade trees, restrooms, all services available in town and a great afternoon of activities in the park. For complete details visit the Fall River Valley Chamber of Commerce site - click here.
Turkey Shoot - For the past several decades the Fall River Lions Club has held an annual Turkey Shoot to raise money to fund their various charities and to provide turkeys for donation to the Fall River Valley Food Bank. The Lions Club begin selling Turkey Shoot chances every year in late October, and hold the actual "shoot" in the president's barn on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Members of the community and not just Lions are encouraged to attend and participate in the Turkey Shoot (really just paper targets). The winners pick-up their turkey at Ray's Market.
Christmas Light Parade - We help sponsor this creative showcase for our local truckers, firemen and lighting enthusiast - the vehicles begin at the county yard near the Glenburn turnoff and proceed down CA 299 through Fall River Mills, Mayer Memorial Hospital and ending in the west parking lot at the county fairgrounds in McArthur - where we have a warming bonfire, a visit from Santa and hot cocoa to celebrate the season - for more information contact Donna Utterback at (530) 336-6869.
