Luis Suarez showed he had lost none of his predatory instincts - or his ability to attract controversy - by scoring twice in Uruguay's 2-1 World Cup qualifying win in Peru on Friday night.

The Liverpool striker, currently serving a 10-game domestic ban for his bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the Barclays Premier League clash at Anfield in April, opened the scoring from the spot after he had been felled by Christian Ramos.

But he was at the centre of a flare-up two minutes later when he was fouled from behind by Josepmir Ballon. Victor Yotun waded in needlessly, suggesting Suarez had gone to ground too easily, and was sent off after a brief melee.

Suarez exacted full revenge after 66 minutes with a wonderful second goal before Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan netted a late consolation with a fine free-kick.

The win leaves Uruguay fifth in the Conmebol qualifying section - a place which, should they remain there after the final three rounds, would see them advance to an intercontinental play-off against an Asian nation.

I'm quite sure Suarez will replicate that form when he gets back in the Liverpool team to the detriment of the rest of the PL!!!!!!!!!! And just for good measure - AW, you CAN'T have him in the January window!!!!!!!!!! YNWA

As a Chelsea fan, I hope LFC beat Man Utd but I'm not sure it would happen because of the referees. Just look at the Liverpool-Man Utd record in recent years. In 2010 Valencia dives OUTSIDE the box and gets a pen- Utd end up winning 2-1. 2011 Berbatov dives to win a pen and Gerrard gets sent off harshly- Utd end up wining 1-0. 2012 Valencia dives to win a pen again and Shelvey gets sent off harshly, Utd end up winning 2-1. 2013????????????? - Dirk Kuyt, Anfield, United Kingdom ----------------- Thought he was a Liverpool supporter?

Why do Arsenal fans all of a sudden think they are Real Madrid just because they signed Ozil; thinking every player wanna play for Arsenal now - Jose Mourinho , London, United Kingdom, 07/9/2013 16:40 Talking to Arsenal fans about football is just pointless. They're are as stupid and deluded as it gets. You would be better off trying to drown a fish.
