That's not very neighborly! Man whose home was slated for demolition swaps numbers with the house next door - and crew knocks down wrong property

A man in Michigan whose house was set to be torn down outsmarted demolition crews by switching address numbers with the house next door.

It's not clear why his house was being forcibly demolished, but his plan to save his home initially worked.

When demolition crews arrived Thursday, they tore down his neighbor Mike's home instead.

Unfortunately for Mike, he planned to rent his home out October 1. He spoke with  WXYZ, wondering whether the city of Pontiac owes him a new house.

But Mike's neighbors don't believe the city owes him anything and are happy his home was accidentally demolished.

They said the house that was initially torn down was an eyesore with broken windows and doors and that squatters were living in it.

'When I heard they tore down the house on accident I wanted to give them a twelve pack of beer,' neighbor Fred Sargent told WXYZ. 'I was that happy.'

'If anybody was going to rent that out, it had to be a crackhead,' he said.

Demolition crews righted the wrong later that afternoon and tore down the correct house.

Waytogowoman, "whose" is correct in the headline. They intended to use the possessive form of "who"... which is "whose". "Who's" -- which means "who is" -- would not make sense: That's not very neighborly! "Man (who is) home was slated for demolition..." That is, unless the man himself was slated for demolition. And that would really add insult to injury. hehe

Should be alright; houses go for $5 thereabouts. Michigan house titles even come free in boxes of Corn Flakes.

neighbour has a house that's up for demolition, Mikes house is probably going to end up on the demo list too just a matter of time before its signed off on, so they swap numbers , Mikes going to have to get a brand new house, plus the insurance he probably took out a few months ago on all the 'valuables' in there, build a new place on the empty lot split the total cash and even with 6 mths- 1 year in jail neighbour will be thousands and thousands of dollars ahead and old Mike well he's got a pretty good deal

Winning!

Not surprising since the police in America routinely raid the wrong house and shoot innocent people.

Very hard not to laugh..... my mouth dropped open!!!!! The funniest bit it how they righted the wrong...... does that mean they rebuilt the house knocked down by mistake? That's the only way it could be totally righted after all.......

'Man, whose home'.....what's with 'who's? Who is? Lazy journalism as usual .. What happened to all the news fit to print? You can't even get the headline right. Can't be bothered reading the rest after this ......
