'If I could do it at 18 with a guy, I can do it at 33 with a lady!' Charlie Hunnam on how his gay sex scenes in former TV show prepared him for Fifty Shades Of Grey
|
It's the role that only a handful of actors wuold be prepared to take on.
But Charlie Hunnam, who was recently cast as Christian Grey in the upcoming movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, has revealed he has more experience in the field of explicit sex scenes on screen - thanks to his role in UK TV show Queer As Folk.
Speaking to the The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie said of the former series, which told the story of three gay men living in Manchester: 'It [had] incredibly explicit sexual scenes with a man. I mean I’m 16 and 17 years wiser now. So if I could do it when I was 18 with a guy, I can certainly do it at 33 with a lady.'

Charlie also spoke about how his long-term girlfriend Morgana McNelis will cope with the sex scenes in the adaptation of E.L. James' book, adding: 'She read them and loved them and was really excited about the potential of the opportunity for me. If anything, I think it will make us closer.'
Charlie will star alongside Melanie Griffith's daughter Dakota Johnson, who will take on the role of the virginal Anastasia Steele in the film.
And speaking about the chemistry with Dakota, Charlie said: 'As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us. It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it.'

Charlie's comments about his upcoming role came as he attended the Sons Of Anarchy season premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
The 33-year-old British actor whizzed around Hollywood on an imposing Harley Davidson before ditching the biker guy look and slipping into a suave suit for his turn on the red carpet.
Charlie's choice of attire for his Harley Davidson spin was a comfortable pair of track pants and a basic white T-shirt.
Sneakers with a dash of green were his footwear for the easy ride, which may or may not have been motorcycle-friendly.

Christian Grey.
And that was the card Charlie moved
on to play next as he graced the red carpet for the premiere of Sons Of
Anarchy's sixth season.

A majority of the cast was present for the occasion and the sizeable bunch posed together for a happy group snap.
Following the castings of both Dakota and Charlie in the Fifty Shades Of grey movie, fans and celebrities
alike swarmed to the Internet to either cheer, whinge or just outright

People that have read the book have a better sense about the movie casting because they can better envision what the protagonist look like. They are the true critics and the ones more likely to go see the movie. Since the reaction is negative for the actors chosen for the movie, the success or lack of it is predictable. Fans know how to fight back and will stay home if the movie is not done right starting with the casting. These days, movies that don't do well is because the public no longer supports projects not carefully crafted by the film makers.
