Ouch! Ethan Hawke looks gruesome on Cymbeline set with blood soaked 'broken arm'

It's one of Shakespeare's big tragedies so there was of course bound to be some blood lost on the set of the modern day take of Cymbeline.

And it seems it was Ethan Hawke's turn to take on most of the action on Friday when he was spotted walking around set with a bloodied broken arm.

The actor grimaced as he strutted through the Brooklyn, New York set while in character as Iachimo.

His whole arm was drenched in blood while it was strapped up in a make shift sling to make it look broken.

Ethan, 42, looked rough and ready for the role in a grey vest top and a pair of dirty navy blue trousers.

He also had to deal with wearing a pair of handcuffs as he filmed the latest harrowing sequence for the movie.

During a break from filming he wandered along, looking down and pensive as he looked at his bloodied hands.

And it seems like it was an action filled scene as a police car was seen also covered in fake blood, while another actor lay next to it with broken glass splattered everywhere.

Although Hawke seemed to be the only star on set with fake injuries.

That's better! Ethan was later seen freshened up in a different outfit ass he got ready to call it a day and head home once more

Delroy Lindo, Ed Harris, Penn Badgley and John Leguizamo were also seen at work on the film, while Dakota Johnson, who was recently announced as the 50 Shades Of Grey lead, was also present.

The daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith was sporting an unflattering short brown wig and looked bloodied up a day earlier on set.

Earlier in the week the actress was seen climbing through a window wearing just a pair of knickers and a grey vest over a lacy bra as she filmed scenes alongside co-star John Leguizamo, with her blonde hair blazing in full glory.

Star studded: Delroy Lindo was also seen looking grubby as he chatted to his castmates

Co-stars: Some extras also pretended to play dead for the scenes behind Penn Badgley

The actress' upcoming drama is based on the play Cymbeline written by William Shakespeare.

The modern-day telling of the Shakespeare play also features Milla Jovovich as the Queen of Britian and 24-year-old Anton Yelchin as Clotus.

The movie is due out in 2014.
