Hermione still knows how to cast a spell! Emma Watson photoshoot proves Potter star has shed her geeky image

She has been doing her utmost to shed the swotty, bespectacled schoolgirl image that delighted cinema-goers when she played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

And this striking photograph of 23-year-old Emma Watson, who has since starred in The Bling Ring and My Week with Marilyn, should make her task a little easier.

She wears a sleek navy dress slashed to the thigh, with her hair curled into a sophisticated bouffant, in next month’s GQ Men of the Year issue.

And it should be no wonder she has chosen to unveil her latest look in the magazine. She was named GQ’s Woman of the Year last week.

When asked about leaving behind her reputation as the ‘Harry Potter girl’, she told the magazine: ‘I’m prepared to wait it out.

'If it takes five years, it takes five years. If it takes more time . . . I’m here for the long haul.’

The actress, who has studied at Brown University in the US and as a visiting student at Worcester College, Oxford, also opened up about her hobby of meditating.

She revealed: ‘I’d be jet-lagged, and I’d have a lot of different things to think about . . .

'I just needed something to stop the noise. I’m a very heady person; I’m in my head a lot.

‘So I just needed something to slow down my thought process and so everything gets  a lot quieter. It’s really helped me.’

Despite her fortune being valued at £27 million, she doesn’t own a place to live.

‘It’s madness, I know. It’s really silly. I know, I really should do something about it,’ she said.

‘But it’s like my choices with everything. I just always have to be sure it’s really something I want!

'Yeah, you can see, there’s a big thought process that goes behind everything... I guess it just seems really grown up.’

She's hot but why do the DM insisting putting a picture if her as a kid in the Harry potter movies in all the articles?

Seems more like a trophy to hang on the arm rather than a sexy little minx to love and live with.

Sorry - but absolutely zero sex appeal. She looks like a child playing dress up.

She's beautiful and smart. She never stopped her education completely, and perhaps that is one of the reasons that she's got things so together now. Others who gave up on school seem to be struggling to make ANY wise choices these days.

What I think goes on at the DM. "Okay guys, seriously, look at this! As of right now Emma Watson has just like, shed her Hermione skin." "I agree! Let's publish it and make everyone realize it!" *two weeks later* "Okay guys, seriously, look at this! As of right now Emma Watson has just like, shed her Hermione skin." "I agree! Let's publish it and make everyone realize it!" Even though the rest of us have an understanding, someday the DM will be able to differentiate. But only after about 30 more years of this nonsense. On another note, she's always been good looking girl. She dresses nice and she's quite classy. She was a cute kid and she's turned into a gorgeous woman. I'd hardly say she was ever "geeky" looking. Dig out your pictures from when you were like 10. You look "geeky" too, eh?

I received 175 red flags for speaking the truth,, DM commenters can I have another 175 for pointing that out? It's rather getting ridiculous as to the praise this girl gets time and time again but ask yourself what has she done other than looking pretty for the camera?

Still think she looks forever young. It's going to be hard for her to change her image because she's just got the kind of face and physique that looks years younger than her age. Think Sally Field here. Trying to doll her up to look glam just won't work. Sure, she's got some real talent and hopefully a meaty role will come along like "Norma Rae" did for Field and people will start to look at her differently.

So you're just going to pull that 'Hermione sheds her image' crap on every Emma Watson article you publish for the next twenty years or so, aren't you.

Miss Watson - I am under your spell.

Think Miley Cyrus should take a leaf out of Emma Watson's book!
