'Thanks a lot Derek!' Amber Riley tweets jokey message to DWTS partner Hough after rehearsals leave her 'sore as hell'

She wowed viewers with her role as feisty Mercedes Jones on Glee.

But Amber Riley is finding her latest challenge a bit more difficult.

The 27-year-old is in training for the new series of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars but rehearsals with her dance partner Derek Hough haven’t been easy.

Following a particularly gruelling workout in Hollywood on Saturday, she tweeted: ‘I’m naming 1 of my kids Tiger Balm. I mean it’s the least I can do at this point #IsmellLikeAconvalescentHome #SoreAsHell #thanksalotDerek.’

Amber was spotted at the studio with Derek on Saturday and looked like she meant business.
Wearing a long peach top, multi-coloured leggings and orange trainers she stood out amongst her fellow contestants.

Derek, who has won the mirror ball trophy four times, stayed cool in the Los Angeles heat in beige trousers, a white vest and a jaunty hat.

The dance professional is happy to have been paired with the Glee actress, with Derek recently praising Amber’s attitude and dedication.

She’s inspiring me as far as her attitude and her performance already, so now I just to make sure that I give her choreography that’s going extenuate that,’ he told Access Hollywood.

Amber, meanwhile, thinks Derek is ‘cute’, gushing to People: ‘He is so cute and so sweet and he actually reminds me of [‘Glee’s] Chord Overstreet.’

She added ‘When I found out he was the person I was going to be dancing with it boosted my confidence a little bit, so I'm really excited about it.’

Although Hough is impressed with his celebrity partner, Amber has admitted she is terrified of how the judges will react to her first dance.

She told E! News: ‘I'm dreading the judges. I'm kind of dreading the very first dance. I think that's going to be a little scary, but I'm also looking forward to the first dance, if that makes any sense. It's like a double kind of feeling.

They weren’t the only contestants putting in a day of rehearsals on Saturday, Bill Nye the Science Guy, wearing his customary bow tie, gave a smile to waiting photographers, while Pretty Little Liars actor Brant Daugherty looked serious at the dance studio.

DWTS pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd also attended to put their celebrity partners through their paces ahead of the two hour premiere on Monday, September 16 on ABC.

I don't understand why people are giving her flak, have you all forgotten Kirstie Alley who was at least twice her size when she did her first DWTS?

#IsmellLikeAconvalescentHome LOL Well, she is a little too chunky IMO. I bet she will get into good shape by doing the show. She's already a cutie and a good singer. In my many years of bellydance, I have seen a lot of fat chix dance very well. Hopefully she'll do a good job. In addition to helping her lose weight, all the vigorous workouts should improve her stamina. It is not fun watching someone who is out of breath.

we had the equivalent with Lisa Riley in the UK version, she put my teeth on edge with her grinning, and the judges were extra nice to her because they didn't want to come over mean about her body size, at the end of the day she just bounced around grinning, so glad she didn't win
