Sheer floaty tops, flashes of fuchsia and culottes! Victoria Beckham's New York Fashion Week show reveals a more relaxed side to her style

Victoria Beckham, it seems, can do no wrong as a fashion designer.

Her latest show won unanimously positive reviews yet again from those in attendance, who glimpsed Rachel Zoe, Anna Wintour and David Beckham (with Harper on his lap) all lining the front row.

Of course, the heady combination of burgundy, fuchsia and white was a delight.

Something completely different: Victoria Beckham showed a heady combination of white, fuchsia and burgundy at her New York Fashion Week show this morning

New silhouettes: In lieu of her fitted shift dresses, Mrs Beckham showed looser, easier shapes with sporty details. A highlight was the culottes (center and right) falling to just below the knee

The sporty cuts and details were reminiscent of a school sport's kit - albeit a very pretty one. We could see it on a public school type like Pippa Middleton.

There were none of the fitted sheath dresses for which her label has become known. Instead, the collection had a more relaxed feel, with the minimalist shapes softened by loose peplums and ruffles.

A highlight though, was by far and away the culotte, which reappeared in several looks, as well as Mrs Beckham's own outfit when she took her bow.

Trigonometry lesson: Geometric details (left) offered a fresh spin on on Mrs Beckham's bags - always a favorite with her high-rolling customers

Falling to just below the knee - much like many of her dresses of seasons past - they made for a fresh, more relaxed, but yet still-tailored silhouette.

Speaking to Grazia after the show, Mrs Beckham said:  'I love a fitted dress but there's a different side of me too that's more relaxed but still sharp.'

She added to Vogue.com: 'I like to challenge myself every season. . . I want to wear everything, I'm so proud of it.'

Unanimously positive reviews: Victoria Beckham, it seems, can do no wrong as a fashion designer

And her instinct to channel this side of herself had the buyers and editors in raptures.

Harrods' Chief Merchant Marigay McKee team called the collection 'beautiful simplicity and elegance personified' on the store's Twitter feed.

And Vogue.com's review described Mrs Beckham's muse as 'a younger, cooler girl with an urban sensibility and penchant for flippy, flirty mini skirts, and boy-meets-girl styling.'

Beautiful, simple, feminine, flattering...the black and white ensemble is absolutely beautiful. Again, well done, VB!

I hope VB paid the real designers well to stick her name to their designs. This should be against the law as well as well as ghost writing. You would not be allowed to hand in someone elses essays at university and then claim the degree as your own - Ana , London, 09/9/2013 12:29============================== I absolutely agree with you Ana ... Victria Beckham is no more a fashion designer than Katie Price is a novelist. Their success in their respective fields is all down to smoke and mirrors.

A fortune for a garment-only if it is one of a kind and handmade by an old school tailor/designer.You can tell when you look at the stitching and material,AND such a piece fits like a second skin. This being said it's all just clothes -why spend a lot on something that is only good for one season.

Love Victoria and her family though, and don't blame her for not being able to be parted from GORGEOUS Harper! - ESS1, London, United Kingdom, 8/9/2013 19:12-------------------------------------Oh please! The reason Harper is there is to generate photo oportunitys and column inches. I have plenty of experience of 2 year olds and she would be much better playing in the park or at a playgroup than being at a fashion show. She can have no REAL interest in it.

good collection yet again love to have the money to buy something of hers she is a designer and a good one you dont have to have bits of paper to be very good at something - brenda56 , kent, United Kingdom, 09/9/2013 11:44------------------------And you would trust a doctor who never went to med school, and did not have the required 'bits of paper' but simply was quite good guessing what was wrong with you.

I was admiring clothes in a big London dept store once and stopped to admire an immaculate dress I assumed must be Chanel. It was by VB and I was surprised assuming most things with celeb name attached somewehere to be shabby and cheap. This dress was simple but beautifully made beautifully cut etc and for the first time in my life I understood why people will pay a fortune for a garment.

The fashion industry wouldn't take her seriously & she wouldn't have won awards because even if the public wouldn't be in the 'know' the fashion industry would. So she's bonafide otherwise they wouldn't give her the time of day. netti London------------------------Those 'in the know' know who actually designs the clothes for the Beckham label and they take THEM seriously.

Ali-the dress in the second pic is too short.unless you want to have to watch your every move and it is a completely windstill dayIf you made the dress longer it would look boring and I do not like the brown at all.The dress in the first pic in dark blue with dark magenta would be gorgeous.Like the cut and it could even be made a tad bit longer and not loose its style if anybody wanted a bit more length in the skirt.
