Jessica Alba rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to fashion.

So it was no surprise to see her dressed to the nines in the front row at the Diane Von Furstenberg show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Sunday.

The mom-of-two donned a monochrome outfit to attend the prestigious runway event, which drew plenty of Hollywood star power.

The 32-year-old clutched an iPad - presumably to take photos and notes - as she headed into The Theatre at Lincoln Center with her cousin, Jessica James.

The star looked phenomenal wearing a Lia Sophia ring on her finger in a form-fitting LBD, which she paired with black point stilettos and an eye-catching black and white striped jacket.

Her hair was up in a high quiff, while she emphasised her knockout features with plenty of picture-perfect bronze make-up.

FEMAIL VERDICT: DIANE VON FURSTENBERG SPRING/SUMMER 2014

By Tamara Abraham

Look beyond the supermodels, and Diane von Furstenberg's collection for spring/summer 2014 was a celebration of her 40 years in fashion.

The woman who invented the wrap dress did offer a couple of takes on that cut, albeit with full, Fifties-style skirts and petticoats peeking beneath.

Crowd-pleasers: A Fifties-style take on the wrap dress (seen on Karen Elson, center) and easy separates were the order of the day at Diane von Furstenberg today

Skirts of the same silhouette, teamed with midriff-baring crop tops, continued the theme, and simple sundresses and separates - we loved the Seventies-style tunic-trouser sets - promise to be easy sales for her legions of fans.

But the real showstoppers were the maxidresses - be they evening gowns or poolside cover-ups, they each married drama with wearability.

A particular highlight was a floaty printed number in shades of orange, cream and blue. We also loved the simplicity of a royal blue gown with spaghetti straps.

Harrods' Chief Merchant Marigay McKee described the show to MailOnline as 'Talitha Getty goes to Goa - uptown girl does boho. Chic, colourful rainbow in sexy sculptured silhouettes.'

There was a thread of a safari theme running through the collection - thankfully not in a cliched leopard print way, rather blue skies, sunsets and dusty landscapes.

DVF really knows how to evoke romance without forcing the wearer to try too hard or lose any sense of their own identity. And for that, we wish her another 40 successful years.
