She did have a busy few days in Toronto promoting her two new films.

Perhaps Dakota Fanning had yet to catch up on her sleep as she emerged for a walk with her boyfriend Jamie Strachan in Manhattan on Monday.

The 19-year-old actress was casually clad in baggy cuffed blue jeans paired with a loosely fitted beige jacket and brown leather loafers.

Keeping up appearances wasn't exactly on Dakota's agenda as her face bore no evidence of make-up behind the tinted shades, not even a helpful trace of lip gloss.

Her yellow-blonde hair was uncombed and falling across her face, but she didn't seem to care as she held hands with Jamie, a 32-year-old UK model who now calls New York his home.

Dakota, who embraces the natural look when she's not working on a film set, suddenly seemed to get a case of the shy giggles.

She was spotted clinging to Jamie's arm and even trying to hide her face in his jacket sleeve.

Jamie in turn was stylishly decked out in belted jeans, dark T-shirt, red sweat jacket and an outer denim jacket.

Dakota has been dating the handsome Strachan for a few months now and it seems to be going swimmingly.

The actress' boyfriend - who was previously linked to Victoria's Secret angel Behati Prinsloo- hopefully realises that Fanning gets serious about dating.

As she told Glamour in March: 'I have a weird vision of relationships because my parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college.

'I've always thought that's what it's supposed to be like, and if it's not, then I don't want to waste my time on it.'

Dakota is no doubt happy to be back in Jamie's clutches following promotional duties for Night Moves and The Last Of Robin Hood during the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The petite star dazzled at the Night Moves premiere on September 8, wearing a shimmery two-piece number that outlined her pale, slender form.

And the night before that Dakota rubbed elbows with her The Last Of Robin Hood co-stars Susan Sarandon and Kevin Kline at another event.

"pale and straggly-haired"....? Put your claws away. Imagine if your existence consisted of being paid just over minimum wage to throw insults at famous people in a gossip mag. No wonder the journo seems so bitter and resentful.
