Mikayla Hull, 24, was pinned down by three men after snatching a purse off a restaurant table in Grand Rapids, Michigan and proceeded to bite one of the men. Hull was being straddled by lawyer Jonathan Damon and had asked to be flipped over onto her back so they could restrain her by the arms - but the men refused to budge. A South Carolina professor says he has identified the author of 'The Bondwoman's Narrative' an account of slavery by an escaped female slave. Professor Gregg Hecimovich, a Victorian literature expert at Winthrop University, says he has traced Crafts to a slaved named Hannah Bonds who served the house of John Hill Wheeler in North Carolina. He will publish his case in the tentatively titled 'The Life and Times of Hannah Crafts'.

NASA has released a photograph taken by the Messenger spacecraft of a formation on the planet Mercury that it claims looks like the Star Wars character Han Solo when he was frozen in carbonite. According to NASA the image 'shows a portion of the terrain surrounding the northern margin of the Caloris basin hosts an elevated block in the shape of a certain carbonite-encased smuggler who can make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.' For the non-initiated that 'carbonite-encased smuggler' means the legendary Star Wars character famously played by Harrison Ford.

A non-profit has created Fed Up, a blog-style website where students can upload photos of their school lunches and have them judged by their nationwide peers. It was the brainchild of DoSomething.org, a group dedicated to empowering young people. Since launching a week ago, thousands of photos have been added by users across America and 30,000 votes have been cast. 'We've learned that young people care,' said Farah Sheikh, who runs the program.

McKenzie Riegn Speigner died after her parents failed to seek medical help until the day after she had ingested dishwashing detergent. Investigators have charged Kristopher Joseph Speigner, 31, and Joy Lynn Speigner, 29, of Madison, Alabama, with criminal negligent homicide in the death of their daughter. Affidavits say the girl swallowed a dishwashing detergent pod and her parents were too out of it on prescription drugs and alcohol to do anything.
