The best of five: Reasons to book your Lightseeker tickets now

Lightseeker, An RWS Musical

Premiering on 24 November at the Resorts World Sentosa Theatre, LIGHTSEEKER, An RWS Musical, is an original, multi-million dollar fantasy production that is set to take Singapore’s musical scene by storm. Looking for a reason to watch it? Here are five reasons why you must book your tickets now.

1. Songs are composed by Dick Lee.

Mention Dick Lee and top notch music always come to mind. From the breakthrough album The Mad Chinaman that shot him to regional prominence to the poignant National Day song, Home, the award-winning songwriter has written countless of chart-topping songs that people can relate to. And boy, are we thrilled that the 56-year-old is helming Lightseeker’s songs and music. The Mad Chinaman is someone who selects his projects carefully, which only makes Lightseeker a must-watch.

2. Featuring actors from London’s West End.

Integral to all musicals are two tenets: mesmerising music and superb acting. Luckily, Lightseeker has both. Two of the lead characters in the musical are performed by Stuart Boother and Vivienne Carlyle, two versatile actors hailing from London’s West End. Stuart started his career singing lead roles in Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables and Vivienne notched up an impressive resume with appearances in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Who’s Tommy.

3. Epic good vs evil story

As proven by the Lord of the Rings trilogy, everyone loves an epic story of good vs evil. Fantasy world? Check. Evil Emperor? Check. Heroes? Check. The fantasy story line is also the reason why Dick Lee is onboard. “The fantasy storyline was something I had never worked on before, and the universal themes of free will and good versus evil inspired me to pen the songs,” he said. Expect lots of epic battles and stunning special effects on stage.

4. Very talented team

Other than songwriter Dick Lee, the rest of the creative team are also experts in their own right. Executive Producer and Creative Director Andrea Teo is an award-winning veteran in the entertainment industry, with many progammes such as Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang under her belt. Director Michael La Fleur was part of the creative team for A-listers such as Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman. And rounding up the team are Music Director Jonathan Lim and Orchestrator Bang Wenfu. Both bring years of valuable musical and commercial experience to the production.
