Duck Dynasty Cast Member Testimony 3

The Righteous Dynasty of a Duck Commander

This video (by LifeWay.com) was shared by my brother, Daniel, on Facebook. I was surprised and encouraged with the candid interview of Phil Robertson, one of the cast members of A&E’s Duck Commander. The show has become one of the most popular television series in the past year.

In the interview, Robertson gives his testimony. You’ll love, like I did, the way he communicates the gospel. One thing I particularly appreciated was the addition of the hope of the resurrection of the body. So many gospel messages miss the hope of our restoration, only focusing on the cross and sanctification of sins. Both should be critical to any gospel message: Jesus died on the cross to purify our sins and bring us to him, and he was resurrected so we might believe in the resurrection of our bodies.

I’m with Cathy! I gave up watching TV about 10 Years ago because I had decided it was nothing but trash and an insult to my spirit. My daughter, now 25, was not allowed to watch TV at all unless it family movie night. She wasn’t allowed to play video gamed, unless they were pre-approved by me first and she was not permitted to spend too much time on the internet unless she was studying. NO CELL PHONES either. I was ridiculed like you wouldn’t believe. But now, she thanks me for caring enough about her soul to shield her from it.

Nevertheless, back in June of 2013, I was visiting a friend who I hadn’t seen in years and she told me about Duck Dynasty. Being that she watches a number of “Reality TV non-since,” I just rolled my eyes. But, the truth of the matter is that I had never even heard of Duck Dynasty. That’s how far removed I have become. I even noticed a Willie display sitting in front of the Optical Dept. at Walmart and thought to myself, “Wonder who that is? He’s kinda cute with that beard and all.” But then, I just left the store never giving it another thought. My point here? I hate TV! I hate Hollywood! But, I love the Robertson’s! But, don’t get me wrong! I am not some geeky square.I am 45 and still way, “Too cool for school.” But there came a time when I was so disgusted with TV shows and commercials, that I was led to just turn the dog gone thing off and I am so glad I did! I don’t miss it a bit. TV does not control my free time!

I think the reason that DD is doing so well and watched by so many is because there are a lot of people out there that are also sick of the trash just like I was! I pray to God, that somehow this nation looks toward the Robinsons’ as an example and turns from it trashy ways. This would be such a good thing! For I believe that this is all that God is waiting for America to do. Turn away from the trash and turn towards Him, and he will help us restore the US back to it’s original beauty.

I watch DD with a Happy, Happy, Happy heart! But that’s all I watch!

Keep up the good example Robertson family! God needs you and this once great nations needs you too! May God continue to bless you!

    One more thing!
Your testimony was beautiful Mr. Robertson. Thank you for sharing!
I think we are all dirty rags in the eyes of the Lord but, isn’t it a wonderful feeling when the Lord washes our sins away.

I too am a former heathen. I still, consider myself as one of God’s less ruley children but, He can handle me! He corrects me and guides me and loves me every second, of everyday. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! As a matter of fact, when the day comes and I die, and if the Lord deems me unworthy, all I ask is for Him to hold me in his arms for just a minute, before casting me out of His presence. I am a fair woman and I can accept what punishments I have due, but, for just one minute, I want to know what absolute love feels like. Because that’s what it’s al about. LOVE!
