From the 5 most ‘Liked’ videos, we will pick one winner based how well you are able to convey the idea of that special moment(s) you had in RWS. The earlier your video is submitted and the more friends and fans ‘Like’ it, the higher the chance it gets to be in the final 5. So break out the video camera and start shooting. And you may just win the 3D2N stay at Festive Hotel.

It’s Chill-out time at Resorts World

[Written by Tania H.]

No matter how active your lifestyle may be, we all need to ‘chill’ sometime. And what better way to watch the world go by, than to have your favourite pick-me-up, munchies and fabulous company for an idling good time. Check out the places at Resorts World to people-watch and just give in to sloth.  We promise we wouldn’t tell.

Big Easy Cajun Jazz Bar & Restaurant
Crab Cakes

Many places serve crab cake ($14.88) but none as authentic and traditional as the ones at Big Easy. Succulent prawns are kneaded into the mix for extra crunch and that gives it texture. Best thing is it’s made fresh with quality ingredients. Served with tartar sauce, this is a must-try.

Virgin Hurricane

Order the Virgin Hurricane mocktail for a refreshing start to your meal, before tucking into the Jambalaya ($23.99; add $4.88 for prawns) which consists of shredded chicken and home-made sausages, a rare find.

Jambalaya

The corn bread which is served with the Jambalaya and other mains is amazingly good. Its fluffy texture is more similar to that of a cake but not as dense. It melts in the mouth and every crumb is a taste of heaven. That alone warrants a return visit. With hospitable staff, a Jazz band which plays every Friday and Saturday from 8pm and 30 percent off all mains for lunch, you should stop by Big Easy soon.

Casino Royale Bar
Martini Royale
Like the center of the universe, the Casino Royale Bar is where the action happens. Relax over a luscious cocktail, and I recommend our gleaming signature Martini Royale ($12) or if you’re into something sweeter, ask for Poker’s Twist ($12).

Nigiri Sushi Set

Notable local songstress Felinda Wong and other artists perform a mix of English, Mandarin and Canto-pop hits daily on stage and you can even do a song request. For those feeling peckish, there’s chicken yakitori ($15) or nigiri sushi ($18) for snacks.

Chili’s Grill and Bar
Triple Play
Located just beside Universal Studios Singapore, Chili’s gets a good mix of guests; from holiday makers, day visitors to white collar workers. It’s not hard to see why it’s popular. People are drinking martinis, chomping on burgers and bonding. My friend declares it’s the best place to kick back and order familiar favourites to share with pals. Triple play ($23.90) and Big Mouth Bites ($19.90) are definitely recommended as it’s effortless to just grab and bite. Featuring chicken crispers, boneless buffalo wings with a lemony twang and Southwestern eggrolls, you get a bit of everything with Triple Play.

Big Mouth Bites

As for Big Mouth Bites, it’s four mini beef burgers stacked with juicy USDA ground steak and accompanied by fries and skinny onion strings. Sit by the bar to interact with the bartender or by the tables to soak in the vibrant atmosphere.

Hard Rock Café
Hard Rock Cafe

Don’t call me outdated but I like the hard rock songs of the 70s, 80s and all the way till the 90s for their angsty lyrics, wild vocals and melodious ‘live’ instrumental beat. If you’re feeling nostalgic, dining at Hard Rock Café will be a trip down memory lane. The staff here lives up to the Hard Rock motto of ‘Love all, Serve all’ as they attend to guests with an air of suave flair. Operations is as sleek as the red and black colour scheme of the restaurant. Choose booth seating for added comfort or at one of the round tables in the spacious dining room. Kids get colouring materials to keep them at bay while parents can chit-chat.

Legendary Burger

I tucked into the Legendary Burger with crispy bacon and a thick slab of beef patty, and my daughter took to her spaghetti meatballs which came with a drink ($8). Check out the bouffant hairstyles of stars of yester-year MTVs on the screens. It’s quite entertaining.

The Rock Bar
Drumlets, battered fish and fries – great finger food
Newly renovated, The Rock Bar at Hard Rock Hotel lobby is simply a fun hang-out. With bar stools and edgy furniture for more comfortable seating, the view opens up to the magnificent hotel sand pool just a few steps away. The bartenders are attentive and always up for a chat. I’m amused by how some drinks have befitting captions like for example, Hard Rock Signature’s Purple Rain is tagged as “Simply the Best—Tina Turner” and the Apple Crumble Martini is under Rock Star Specials “You Want It, You Got It—Alice Cooper”. Check out the signature cocktails specials at $12++ each, Monday to Thursday from 6pm onwards. And the house pours at just $10 nett each, from 6pm onwards on Friday and during RWS in-house ticketed event days. Finger food is available on the snacks menu and if you want to take your fun outdoor, book one of the pool cabanas for $300 for four hours which comes with 2 bottles of Laurent Perrier champagne.

Mulligan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant
Mulligan’s

From the façade, it looks dubious, with the yellow trimmed signboard and barrels which act as tables. But once you enter Mulligan’s, it’s a whole new world—Irish to be exact. Although starkly lit, the atmosphere is comforting and cozy. Looking at the screens in the restaurant, I can almost hear the cheering during the recent World Cup Fever.

Fish & Chips

But for lunch, it’s an intimate eatery for friends. I had the steak and cheese pie ($16), and clam chowder ($8) which blew me over. Straight out of the oven to our table, the aroma had me at ‘hello’. I wiped out every morsel of crumbly puff pastry left in the ramekin while the chowder left me craving for more. No doubt, I’ll be back again!

Chef of the Century descends upon Resorts World Sentosa

“Exhilarating” and “bliss” are just a couple of choice words to describe Chef Joël Robuchon’s food. The great Chef Robuchon is the world’s most decorated chef with 26 24* stars in the 2010 Michelin Guide.

And he’s coming to Resorts World Sentosa!

In early 2011, Chef Robuchon will be bringing his three widely successful concepts to Singapore: Joël Robuchon Restaurant, L‟Atelier de Joël Robuchon, The Pastry Shop and Lounge.

It doesn’t just stop there. On top of great food, patrons can also expect a stellar team of chefs, maître d and stewards, all handpicked from his dining establishments to spearhead the three outlets.

Mr. Robuchon said: “Joël Robuchon Restaurant will be a fine dining restaurant with the quality of service of a three Michelin-star dining establishment as it currently exists in Tokyo, Las Vegas and Paris, while L‟Atelier de Joël Robuchon is a different innovative concept. It features a „convivial‟ atmosphere, where I wanted to stage the chefs in a central kitchen in full view of the guest, without any manager. The guest, seated at the counter, can see his product being transformed, everything is transparent, and he can even follow the cooking of his meat on the teppanyaki or on the spit of the rotisserie.”

If you’re not familiar with who Joël Robuchon is, just check out his list of accomplishments.
