Hilary Swank is one star who refreshingly knows that less is more.

The actress kept it simple as she attended the Broadway opening night of Big Fish at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York City on Sunday.

The 39-year-old Oscar winner showcased her natural beauty - and her slim figure - in an all-black ensemble.

The Boys Don't Cry star accentuated her tiny waist in a plunging, black midi dress and matching skinny belt.

Dressing up the look, Hilary teamed the flowing number with a pair of peep-toe stilettos, featuring a petite ankle strap.

Her silky brunette locks were poker straight so as to best frame her pretty face, which was spruced up with minimal make-up that highlighted her youthful glow.

An avid supporter of the arts, Hilary was snapped posing with Bruce Cohen, the producer of the silver screen adaptation of Big Fish, which was directed by Tim Burton.

Daniel Wallace created the novel for the fantastical drama, as John August wrote the adventure's screenplay.

But the hit story was recently transformed into a musical.

Big Fish is about a boy who tries to learn more about his dying father by reliving stories and myths he told about his life.

Other celebrities to come out for the big night included Zach Braff, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Liev Schreiber, and Zachary Quinto.

Liev - who just turned 46 - came with his adorable blonde boys Kai and Sasha, but his wife Naomi Watts did not join them on the red carpet.
