The show must go on! Miranda Hart films brand new scenes for Call The Midwife in the rain

It may have been raining, but that didn't stop the production of Call The Midwife on Friday.

So Miranda Hart, had to mission on in the downpour as she filmed scenes for the new series.

But at least Miranda, 40, was secure in the knowledge that even though her character rides a bike, she probably wouldn't have to get home on one herself.

Miranda was shooting in East London, where the show has been forced to move to, after their original location has been sold off to developers of luxury flats.

The nurses used to be based at St Joseph's College in Mill Hill, north London, which was home to Nonnatus House, but rather than rebuild the iconic building, producers will save money by writing the relocation into the script.

The Miranda and the midwives - including Jessica Raine and Jenny Agutter - will end up finding their new digs in Poplar, East London.

A source said: 'We wrote the demolition threat into the plot so that if we had to leave, there was a reason for the nuns and nurses needing a new home for the next run,' the Daily Mirror reports.

'It is far simpler, and less costly, than trying to recreate the whole thing somewhere else.'

Miranda's period costume mars a change from the eighties inspired outfit she wears in her new fitness DVD Miranda Hart's Maracattack.

Maracattack is based on one key concept. Fun,' the comedienne explains. 'For fitness should be fun. Bear with as I coin a compound word - Funness. You will want to exercise. It’s about playing, not ‘working out’ and play helps your body, but also frees your mind.

'Without giving too much away, it involves maracas, classic pop tunes, and is as much fun as a riotous camp, cheesy disco. There is no need to dread the gym anymore.'

The DVD will also see some of her BBC One comedy regulars join her for the work out, including Patricia Hodge, Sarah Hadland and Tom Ellis, as well as a guest appearance from Location Location Location's Kirstie Allsopp.

Issued as a DVD and Digital only release, Miranda Hart's Maracattack will be available on 18th November.
