Her new film Gravity has already broken US box office records – and as it prepares to touch down in UK next month, actress Sandra Bullock attended an intimate private screening in London.

The Academy Award winner is in the capital ahead of the film’s UK premiere on Thursday evening, when she will be joined by co-star George Clooney on the red carpet in Leicester Square.

But while the event is likely to be frenzied, it was an altogether more sedate affair on Wednesday evening when Sandra, 49, sashayed into the small screening at London’s BAFTA Building in Mayfair.

The low-key evening appeared to be reflected in her choice of outfit, with the celebrated actress opting for a stark, androgynous look on a chilly night in the capital.

Indeed, Sandra looked smart in a crisp white blouse and black, single breasted blazer teamed with a pair of matching leggings that gave her the opportunity to show off her impressively lithe legs.

The actress completed her look with a pair of strappy heels, while the light brush of blusher on her cheeks gave an otherwise neutral look an added flash of colour.

Sandra was making her way into the venue for a BFI screening and Q&A about the forthcoming film, in which she plays a fictional bio-medical who is undertaking her first mission into space.

The actress filmed many of her scenes alone on a huge sound stage in London and she recently admitted that her pre-requisite before agreeing to the role was that three year-old son Louis could accompany her on set.

‘It had to be a great time for my son,’ she said. ‘I can’t miss him. If I miss him, I will be of no use to you.

‘You know, he’s just learning how to walk. So guess what’s going to happen? I have to go! He’s taking steps!’

The film has claimed an estimated $55.6 million (£34.6 million) since opening in the US on October 4, making it the highest ever opening weekend during that month.

Gravity will follow Bullock and co-star Clooney after their shuttle is damaged by floating debris and they are left stranded in space.
