Lars von Trier films are known for being controversial and the posters for his new project don't disappoint.
In the series of posters released for the film Nymphomaniac, the film's stars are shown in a moment of post-orgasmic euphoria.
Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Uma Thurman, Christian Slater and Shia LaBeouf, among others, the film follows the story of Joe, who retells the story of her life to an older bachelor after she is found beaten in an alleyway.

Shai LaBeouf plays the womanising Jerome in flashbacks
In the film LaBeouf plays Jerome, a slightly creepy womaniser, has his eye on Stacy Martin, who plays the younger Joe.
In the poster, LaBeouf appears shirtless and smoking a cigarette, suggesting the conclusion of a sexual tryst.
Slater and Thurman play Joe's Father and Mrs H in the film, both of whom are seen only in flashback.

Christian Slater, who was last seen in 2013's Stranded, plays Joe's Father
Other actors in the sexual drama include Jamie Bell as K, Willem Dafoe as L, Stellan Skarsgaard as Seligman, Mia Goth as P, Nicolas Bro as F and Sophie Kennedy Clare as B.
Von Trier has stated that the film will offer both 'softcore' and 'hardcore' versions, with the more explicit cut of the movie offering genuine sex scenes and pornographic material.
The film is being billed as the director's most controversial thus far, an interesting label considering Von Trier's past projects...and actions.

In 2011, Von Trier kicked up controversy with his film Melancholia when during a news conference at a Cannes Film Festival panel, he made comments claiming to 'understand Hitler.'
The festival's board of directors had the Danish director banned over the remarks, declaring him a 'persona non grata.'
No release date has been set for the film, which will likely premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
