It's enough to make any Scot smile! Kimberly Stewart's darling toddler Delilah cheered up a grey day in Los Angeles by opting to wear warm red tartan trousers to school on Wednesday.

It will no doubt please her pop star granddad, Rod Stewart, who is famously proud of his Scottish heritage though he was born and raised in north London.

Mum Kimberly, Rod's daughter with model ex-wife Alana Hamilton, wasn't quite so colourful, clad in a black jacket with a furry collar over a black T-shirt and black knee-length leggings.

She wore her long blonde hair pulled to the side in a plait, while Delilah's fair hair was scraped up into a pony tail.

The 34-year-old reality TV star, actress and model protectively put her hand behind her two-year-old daughter, who clutched a red backpack as she walked across a car park to her first class.

Kimberly gave birth to Delilah – the result of a fling with Hollywood star Benicio del Toro – on August 21, 2011, four months after the Puerto-Rican actor's publicist broke the news of her pregnancy.

Delilah, who is 68-year-old Rod's first grandchild, shares her birthday with her proud mum.

Even though Kimberly and Benicio aren't together, she says the 46-year-old actor-producer is a hands on dad.

Just like her grandpa: London-raised Rod has always been proud of his Scottish roots and it looks as if Kimberly is passing this on

Speaking to Hello! in 2011, Kimberly said, ‘Benicio’s very involved; he and Delilah have a very special bond.'

Delilah, named after the Tom Jones song, is Benicio's only child

However, the Oscar winner is likely to be tied up for the next few months filming Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' due out next year.

Kimberly had her own reality show, Living With Kimberly Stewart, in which 13 contestants competed to win the key of the Stewart house in London. The show aired on Living TV in the UK in 2007.
