Me and my girl: Penelope Cruz steps out with newborn daughter Luna for friend Pedro Almodovar’s birthday celebrations

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have been keeping their little girl Luna under-wraps since welcoming her into the world in July.

Pictures have emerged though of the proud mum introducing her new addition to some pals back in September.

In the newly released snaps Penelope can be seen carrying her little girl to the car after attending a birthday party for one of her closest friends, director Pedro Almodovar.

Penelope gave birth to Luna on the same day as the royal baby Prince George was born, July 22nd.

Since then the 39-year-old and her husband have been enjoying time away from the cameras with their young family which also includes two-year-old son Leo.

Penelope recently took her little girl to her friend Pedro’s secret birthday party back home in Madrid, which was where Luna was born.

The acclaimed director who has worked with Penelope on multiple occasions celebrated his 64th with his nearest and dearest on September 23rd.

Whilst Javier was nowhere to be seen, Penelope bought her daughter along as her date with the mother and daughter spotted arriving with Spanish actress Blanca Suarez.

The new mum was dressed down for the low key bash in a loose denim shirt and baggy jeans, leaving her brunette locks in a messy half up half down do.

Penelope kept her daughter close as the pair hurried to their car after the city celebrations, with only a glimpse of Luna’s dark mop of hair and her tiny feet visible.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress was no doubt keen to introduce her daughter to her good friend Pedro, with the director citing Penelope as his muse.

The two have been friends for years after Penelope spent her childhood obsessively watching Almodóvar films, previously revealing in an interview with the Guardian that a viewing of Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down when she was 14 changed her life.

‘I went into the city to see that movie and that was the day that changed a lot of things for me. In terms of making the decision that day to become an actress. It felt like going to the moon. Almost impossible. Coming from where I come from. There was nobody who had anything to do with the arts in my family.’

‘There is something that works really well in our relationship that combines both our friendship and the professional side,’ Almodóvar has said of their deep rooted friendship. ‘We operate like lovers. So while we don't have the pleasures of sex, we don't have the complications of sex either. We work really well as a couple who don't sleep together.’

Penelope was also seen spending time with another of her loved ones this week as she teamed up with younger sister Monica for a fashion event on Wednesday.

The siblings looked beautiful in their slinky evening wear for the L'Agent by Agent Provocateur and Net-A-Porter meal at Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler Antiques in London.

The actresses both opted for predominately black outfits, which showed off their ample chests and slim figures perfectly.

Penelope, the elder of the two sisters, chose a slim-fitting floor length dress for the occasion, which also featured long tasseled straps.

The mother-of-two looked as if she had snapped back into shape after giving birth.

Penelope took part in a press conference in the capital earlier this week for her new project The Counselor in which she stars alongside real-life husband.
