She insists that she’s the one who started the twerking craze, not Miley Cyrus, and Iggy Azalea was keen to show off her signature move on stage in Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old Australian was performing at the Radio 1Xtra Live 2013 concert at Liverpool Echo arena.

Whilst the Work star showed off her figure in a skimpy outfit, when it came to twerking for the crowd, she kept things clean by covering up her bum.

The star took to the stage for the 1Xtra Live event which also saw Robin Thicke, Nelly, John Newman and Tinie Tempah on the star-studded bill.

Iggy looked amazing as she took to the crowd to perform her Top 20 hits Work and Bounce as well as new single Change Your Life.

Dressed in a white corset top and a black PVC hot pants, the singer finished her look off with a pair of thigh-high, lace-up silver boots.

With her platinum blonde locks left loose and poker straight the star got stuck into her energetic performance, showing off her moves with her gorgeous backing dancers.

At one point though the star appeared to come over a little shy as she wrapped a hoodie around her waist, hiding her pert bum as she twerked for her fans.

In a recent interview with Paper magazine, the Aussie star insisted that she's been twerking since Miley Cyrus was still Hannah Montana.

She said: 'I've been doing that onstage for two-and-a-half years. [Miley] probably watched my videos online and decided to try it.'

Iggy was probably hinting at the big selection of YouTube uploads of her doing the moves onstage, which has racked up an impressive 250,000 views.

The Sydney-born rapper may be busy with her live performances but it was revealed this week that the star has faced a massive setback when it comes to the release of her debut album The New Classic.

Her anticipated LP was scheduled to come out before the end of the year after being pushed back from it's original date of 2nd September, but Iggy has since revealed a further delay.

In a new interview she reveals her disappointment as her debut is pushed back until March 2014 for marketing reasons.

Ranting to Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper, Iggy attempts to explain the delay:

‘The official date? F**ked if I know! It's done, it's so depressing to say this but it's the beginning of March, it's so far away but I just have to accept that.’

‘It was supposed to be October but obviously I'm going on tour with Beyonce and they said I'm not allowed to put an album out while I'm on tour because I'll be trapped in Australia and I won't be able to do any TV appearances.'

'I thought that's fair enough, that's three weeks and then they said “You can't put an album out around Christmas time, that's a bad time” and I said '”What about January?” “Well nobody gets back off holidays and then it's the Brit Awards, you can't release an album, it's terrible for marketing” which brings me to February.’
