The night was all about stars when Rimmel hosted their 180 Years Of Cool anniversary party in London – but none shone brighter than Rita Ora, who stood out in an red tartan trouser-suit.

The 22-year-old singer worked her sartorial style at the London Film Museum on Thursday evening after joining a host of famous faces to celebrate 180 years since the Regent Street launch of cosmetics giant Rimmel in 1834.

Rita was making an appearance shortly after unveiling her debut collection for the brand at The Savoy Hotel.

We've seen that before: Rita look echoes a similar outfit worn by her close friend, model Cara Delevingne

But those with long memories may well have recognized her distinctive tartan look - particularly the trousers, with their long, distinctive black stripe running up either side.

Indeed, the suit bore a striking similarity to one previously worn by close pal Cara Delevingne, an advocate of the on-trend tartan look – a prominent feature on the catwalk this season in new collections from the likes of Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.

The willowy model sported the look on October 1 during a Chanel runway show at Paris Fashion Week - more than a week before Rita's appearance in London.

Shortly afterwards the singer was spotted wearing her friend's trousers for the journey back to London.

On Thursday the songstress cut an elegant figure as she sashayed inside for the landmark event in a monochrome skirt teamed with a high-necked blouse, shades and heeled brogues – but the surprisingly low-key look would prove to be short-lived.

Indeed, Rita quickly changed into the distinctive pillar-box red tartan trouser-suit from Moschino – and she admitted the fresh outfit perfectly suited the landmark celebration.

Writing on her Twitter page prior to taking to the stage to perform at the event, she said: 'Off to Rimmel! #Moschino suits this occasion perfectly! #LDN.'

The singer matched her striking outfit with a crisp white shirt and chunky black boots, while the tartan bow-tie gave it an androgynous twist.

Her make-up was equally dramatic, with Rita opting for a liberal use of foundation, bronzer and a thick red slash of lipstick.

After performing at the event, the Hot Right Now singer spent the night hanging out with fellow guests Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger – who opted for a look that owed a lot to the 1980’s.

Earlier that day the singer had launched a debut collection for Rimmel, which includes lip crayons and nail varnishes.

Rita chose an eye-catching oversized pink coat with large black writing across it for the occasion, and of course a slick of bright pink lipstick.

Her look was completed with a pair of daring, black patent boots, which had several buckles running right up to just below the singer's knee.

Rita later posted a photo of her line during the photocal, adding : My favourite think chewing as a kid...'Crayons' Now I've made my own lipstick just like a crayon but…'
