Gwen Stefani embraces autumnal chic as she heads off for weekend break with sons Kingston and Zuma

Now that autumn is settling in most people adapt their wardrobes for the chillier season and dress accordingly.

And in that sense Gwen Stefani is no different to the rest of us, although she is undoubtedly infinitely more stylish than most.

On Friday the 43-year-old fashionista looked the epitome of autumnal chic as she headed off for a weekend getaway with her sons Kingston, seven, and Zuma, five.

Gwen was dressed down in a cosy but stylish ensemble consisting of a navy chunky knit jumper, which she teamed with a pair of distressed blue jeans and tan suede high top trainers with a black, red and white design.

As usual the No Doubt singer was immaculately made-up but in keeping with the low key look she wore her platinum blond locks casually tied up into a top knot.

Despite the cooler temperatures the sun was still shining but the singer was well prepared with a pair of oversized dark sunglasses with a retro design.

The star finished off her outfit with a thick dark scarf wrapped around her neck and a bright red leather holdall style handbag which looked to be bursting with goodies for the trip.

Husband Gavin Rossdale seemed to have stayed back home in Los Angeles as he was nowhere to be seen and instead the singer had the two younger men in her life for company.

The trio were seen arriving at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa for the weekend getaway and the boys looked delighted to be spending some quality time with their famous mother.

Despite being the subject of swirling pregnancy rumours for some time now, Gwen has yet to confirm or comment on whether she is expecting her third child with husband Gavin Rossdale.

One thing is for sure, whether she is pregnant or not her sense of style shows no sign of dissipating.

Boys will be boys! Both her sons wore jeans and T-shirts and were clearly not yet feeling the cooler temperatures

she is beautiful and talented and probably a great parent and I often love her style (not always...IE her shoes in these pictures are ugly to me). but I wonder what her real personality is. is she super down to earth or is she super snobby as many of the pictures seem to show. if I were at a park w/ my kid and saw her and decided to approach her and compliment her, would she shun me or be gracious? I cant tell as pictures don't capture the whole picture.
