Even A-listers do the school run! Michelle Williams looks stylish as she greets daughter from class

She may be an award-winning actress of stage and screen, but Michelle Williams is also a devoted mother.

This was evident when she collected her eight year-old daughter, Matilda Ledger, from school in Brooklyn, New York, yesterday.

Wearing a grey tweed jacket with leather-effect leggings and over-sized sunglasses, the 33 year-old looked casually chic as she waited for her only child to finish class.

Michelle - whose hit films include Me Without You, Brokeback Mountain and Deception - has been a single parent since Heath Ledger's untimely death in January 2008.

In the October 2011 issue of Vogue the screen star confessed she had extreme difficulty with her ex's passing.

'For a really long time, I couldn’t stop touching people’s faces,' she said. 'I was like, "Look at you. You move. You’re here." It all just seemed so fleeting, and I wanted to hold on to it.'

Losing the Australian actor also reshaped who she was. '[The death has] changed how I see the world and how I interact on a daily basis. It’s changed the parent I am. It’s changed the friend I am,' she added.

But, despite this difficulty, both have managed to remain close. Only recently, while on holiday in North Carolina, Michelle was seen taking her daughter to the set of Dawson's Creek - the show which made her famous.

The star played Jen Lindley opposite James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson in the hit series from 1998 to 2003, but since then her career has gone from strength to strength.

In 2010 she starred in the massive hit Shutter Island opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

In 2011 she took home a Golden Globe award for her convincing turn as Hollywood's greatest blonde icon Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn.

Not one to shy away from challenges, in 2014 the beauty will star as Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of Cabaret opposite Alan Cummings. Michelle is filling the shoes of Liza Minnelli, who reportedly already approved of the actress' casting.

And in a testament to her approval from the fashion world, the stunner has been cast as the face of Louis Vuitton handbags.
