'I think he's sick of me': Helena Bonham Carter plays down controversy over 'mystery blonde'... but admits her working relationship with Tim Burton could be over

They put on a united front last week as potentially damning images suggested their relationship was on the rocks.

And with Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton's apparent togetherness very much underscored during that particular appearance at the Royal Albert Hall, the actress has reportedly played down rumours of a crisis while promoting her latest film in New York.

The promotional trail for BBC feature Burton and Taylor has taken the 47-year-old to the Hampton’s Film Festival, where Page Six claim she was heard joking: ‘He’s getting sick of me.’

Helena is understood to have referenced her relationship with the enigmatic film-maker during a Q&A for the TV biopic – in which she plays Elizabeth Taylor to Dominic West’s Richard Burton – at Sag Harbour on Saturday.

The actress has previously worked with Burton in Sweeney Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Dark Shadows, The Corpse Bride and Alice in Wonderland – but admitted she was unsure about collaborating with him on future projects.

‘I’m not sure… I think he must be getting sick of me,’ she said.

Guests at the Q&A later told the publication that Helena was open about her working relationship with the American director, admitting that 2007 musical drama Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street – in which she played Mrs. Lovett – was ‘a disaster.’

‘Carter said, “It was nice to work with him when we were first involved.” But that Sweeney Todd was ‘a disaster’ because they were on each other’s nerves,’ a source revealed.

‘She said, “Who knows? Maybe we’ll never work together again.’”

Helena also attended a screening of her new 90-minute film wearing a typically outlandish floral dress with scuffed hobnail boots.

While her hair was worn up, several long strands were left down and in a twisted design over her shoulder, displaying a cute pair of earrings.

The bash was also attended by the likes of Alec Baldwin, Kevin Connolly and director Alex Gibney.

Helena has previously described pictures of Burton kissing a mystery blonde as 'absolute nonsense', insisting Tim and his companion were among a group of family members and friends.

Last week the actress' spokesperson denied the speculation about Tim appearing to cheat, telling the Daily Express: 'This is absolute nonsense, the pictures were taken whilst they were out and the large group includes family, friends and work colleagues.'

The images in question show director Tim in an apparent embrace with a mystery woman following a cinema date at the end of September.

She looks absolutely gorgeous in the photo with the tight curls and the lips purse.

I did like them as an unconventional couple. Sad. That photo looks pretty incriminating and must be saddening for her. I'm a fan of her 'screw the fashion police' style, and I usually love dreads, but it just looks like a nest.

If its true, and he's a fool if it is, he should have had the decency to tell before smooching somewhere public with his alleged new woman.....fool.

I'm sure he's sick of her. Helena Bonham Carter was once a beautiful woman. But she tunred into a complete goth freak. She looks grotesque. I'm sure Tim Burton wants a change. Can't say I blame him.

also - how come those pictures are so grainy and dark if you can see on other ones the cellulite? Maybe because it would be obvious that nothing happened?

DM why do you want us all believe those two are not crazy about each other?

DM please add all those things she said about how they met and how she loves him. HBC didn't suggest what you are trying to. Why are you so keen on making people think those two are not crazy about each other?
