They fell out after she allegedly told police he was driving her Porsche when it crashed into a truck last year.

But judging by new pictures, Lindsay Lohan and her former assistant Gavin Doyle seemed to have put their differences behind them.

The actress left a New York restaurant on Saturday accompanied by Gavin and an unidentified male companion.

She looked striking in a pair of knee-high leather boots and a tiny mini-skirt which she teamed with a black jacket and red patterned scarf.

Socialite Gavin strolled behind her as she texted, walking past a slew of garbage bags on the street.

Their night out comes just a year after he revealed to officers the Liz & Dick star had been in the driving seat when her Porsche crashed into the back of a truck in Los Angeles.

Lindsay was arrested for reckless driving and lying to the police when she allegedly claimed that it was Gavin who was driving the car, not her.

But Santa Monica police later said in a statement, 'During the subsequent investigation, information was developed that Lohan was the driver of the Porsche when the accident occurred.'

Lindsay also famously kicked Gavin out of her car following her arrest for an alleged nightclub altercation some months later.

Charges were later dropped, but Gavin tweeted his concern for the star.

'@lindsaylohan after bailing you out last night I HOPE and PRAY you get the help you so desperately need. We are ALL rooting for you. xxx'

However, it looked like all had been forgiven as the high-spirited pair embarked on a journey together in the Big Apple.

In March this year, Lindsay accepted a plea deal in the misdemeanour car crash case that included 90 days in a rehabilitation facility.

The actress pleaded no contest to reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers who were investigating the accident involving the actress in June.

She was sentenced to 90 days in rehab, 30 days of community labour and 18 months of psychological therapy.

The Parent Trap star was on probation when her sports car crashed on Pacific Coast Highway while on her way to a film shoot.

Lindsay was recently spotted apartment-hunting less than a week after completing the 90-day rehab stint in August.

She quickly found an apartment to her liking, as movers were seen moving furniture in her new pad on Mercer Street in Soho on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Lindsay has added to her body tattoo collection.

The actress posted an Instagram picture of herself Sunday getting inked by underground graffiti 'artist' Staino, whom she linked to on her personal account.

Although the black and white photo shows her in the process of going under the needle by the dark-haired Staino, she has yet to reveal the finished project.

The tattoo Lindsay was in the process of getting was being inked above that, just north of the crook of her elbow.

Lohan seemed to be looking away, perhaps in pain, as she was being tattooed. Her signature blonde hair was tied in a bun. To the cigarette smoker's left was a lighter.

She looks great these days. I want to see her pull herself together for good, and win. It shows a real strength of character when people can do this, and accept their limitations despite the setbacks and criticism.
