The original and still the best! Supermodel Helena Christensen looks runway ready as she displays long legs in short denim dress

She is one of the first supermodels and at 44-years-old, Helena Christensen still looks ready to take on a catwalk at any time.

The Danish model could have been strutting down a runway as she was spotted taking a stroll around New York's West Village on Monday.

The model opted to wear a denim mini dress for the nice October day, which left her long, lean and golden legs on display.

Helena let the playful frock be the focus of her ensemble and teamed it with a simple but stylish blue-and-white striped shirt and collared khaki coat which boasted black leather piping.

The 5ft 10in star didn't need an extra boost with the help of heels so instead sported a pair of green flats with an interesting cut-out design.

Helena's chestnut brown hair was pulled into a voluminous ponytail, allowing her to best showcase her flawless face that was highlighted with a pink palette of make-up and topped off with brown shades.

Completing her look, the former Victoria's Secret Angel made a flashy yet understated designer statement by carrying her Balenciaga First bag slung over one shoulder.

The look was a step up form her ensemble last Tuesday when she was spotted in a pair of bizarre tailored white dungarees.

The Dane teamed the cropped overalls with a loose-fitting black top with three-quarter length sleeves and a pair of black flats.

Unfortunately, the fashion crimes did not stop with the cut of the clothing but were added to by the fact Helena seemed to have misplaced her iron - or at least the person who does her ironing - and stepped out in creased and wrinkled clothes.

With her hair scraped back from her face and her eyes hidden behind dark glasses, she seemed to be going without make-up for the outing.

Wearing delicate gold chains at her neck, wrists and ankle, the cover girl accented her outfit with bright orange nail polish.

Now a photographer, Helena has a 14-year-old son called Mingus from her five-year-relationship with Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus.

Lately, Helena has been busy promoting her handbag collection for accessories brand Kipling.

Retailing for $109 to $269, she's designed a line of multifaceted handbags inspired by personal photographs of hers.

'Since my early twenties I’ve been pulling Kipling bags along on my trips, so when they approached me to collaborate I thought it would be cool to put my touch on bags I’d probably be traveling with anyway,' Helena told Metro.

She's still very stunning! I don't get what the problem is with looking ones age. She is still gorgeous even if she does. People seem to want to look 3 for their whole life. She was always so striking.

You know what I'm sorry, but I don't think Helena has aged well at all. Her mouth looks very pinched and her jaw and cheeks are gaunt. I'm the same age as Helena and perhaps the same size and I'm wondering if I was absent mindedly papped how I would look- probably worse than I expect! But I can't agree that she looks great for her age, despite still being a beautiful woman that always was my favourite super!
