'It was a lot more ballsy than I would ever normally be': Naomi Watts recalls how she made the first move on Liev Schreiber... as she poses on the sand for a stunning shoot

They have been happily dating for eight years and have two children together.
And Naomi Watts has revealed that she was the one to make the first move when she met Liev Schreiber.
The pair were first introduced in May 2005 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, and Naomi made sure she didn’t go home without giving him her telephone number.
Bold: Naomi Watts posed on a beach for Allure magazine, and told them how she made the first move on Liev Schreiber
‘It was a lot more ballsy than I would ever normally be,’ the actress told Allure magazine. ‘Normally I want a guy to make the first move, and he wasn't.’
‘Then he got up to say he was leaving and I was like, “Oh s***. Probably another couple years are going to pass by.” I was wildly attracted to him and his work, so I said something cheeky as he was about to walk out.
‘I said, “Don’t you want my digits?” Because I couldn't possibly say, “Would you like my phone number?”
It paid off: The two actors, pictured in August at The Butler premiere, have been together since 2005
Naomi recalled how the bold move worked on her fellow actor.
‘It made him laugh,’ she explained. He texted me five minutes later saying, “Would you like to go for a drink now?” And I said, “No, I'll meet you for breakfast tomorrow.”
And things are just peachy for the 45-year-old in her professional life as well as her personal life.
She believes the roles she is being offered are getting better rather than worse as she ages.
Happy family: The pair have two sons together, Sasha, six, and Kai, four, who Naomi was seen with on Friday
‘Women in their 40s have gone through quite a few different things, and so the roles are going to reflect that,’ she said. ‘People say, “Oh, it's done by 40,” and now everyone knows it's not. I actually feel like the roles are a lot more interesting.’

She took on the role of Princess Diana last year and while it was a risk, Naomi believed it fit ‘like a glove’ with the other movies in which she has played normal women in extraordinary situations.
‘She was never completely ordinary. She was from a very privileged background, but she was thrust into something that no one can prepare for,’ Naomi said. ‘What fascinated me about her was this feeling of being trapped, completely isolated, and forced into circumstances she just couldn't handle.’
The star, who was born in England and moved to Australia at the age of 14, initially turned down the role after being worries that people would constantly compare her to the Princess of Wales.
‘I thought, Everyone's going to jump to these comparisons: “She's not tall enough. She hasn’t got the nose. She hasn't got the voice.” [I thought], It's not going to work, it's too scary. So I said no. But for some reason, I didn't feel completely at peace with that decision. It was nerve wracking every step of the way until I was there, and then it was like, “OK, now I'm just doing it.”
The film, which was panned by British critics, will be released in the US on November 1.
Naomi also took part in a stunning photo shoot on the beach with Allure magazine for its November issue, which will hit newsstands on October 22.
