Mickey Rooney's stepson has admitted that he owes the legendary actor $2.8 million after tapping funds from the Babes In Arms star's bank accounts, according to TMZ.com.

In an elder abuse case against Christopher Aber and his wife Christina, it is alleged that the couple took from Rooney after taking control of his personal and financial affairs several years ago.

At the time, it was also claimed that the couple even prevented the now 93-year-old Hollywood legend from getting his daily medication and even food when visiting his home in Westlake, California.

Mickey later testified in an elderly abuse case before U.S. Congress, telling the court that he feared for his life.

He was subsequently placed under the conservatorship of his lawyer Augustine, with whom Christopher and Christina are now settling with.

However, the couple have now declared bankruptcy, claiming they do not have the money to seal the $2.8 million deal, which was struck between the two parties.

Now Rooney's conservators are said to be preparing to sue the couple's homeowners' insurance policy to settle the debt.

Back in 2011, Rooney was granted a restraining order against his ‘bullying’ stepson after a court heard he was in fear of his life.

The actor, then 90, was said to be so afraid that when his stepson visited his home he would hide from him.

Court documents alleged that Christopher, the son of Rooney’s eighth wife Jan, had taken over control of his personal and financial affairs.

Rooney was said to had become a prisoner in his own home due to ‘intimidation and bullying’ and  feared being kidnapped.

The restraining order granted by a judge in Los Angeles prevented Rooney’s stepson from coming within 100 yards of him.

The order was also imposed on Aber’s wife, Christina.

Rooney, who last made a film in 2008, voluntarily asked the court for a lawyer to take control of his finances to prevent his stepson from meddling in them.

After the restraining order was issued, Rooney said: ‘All I want is to live a peaceful life, to regain my life and be happy.’

The order required Aber to stay 100 yards away from Rooney and his home and to refrain from contacting the actor.

Aber is the son of Rooney's eighth wife, Jan Chamberlin, whom he married in 1978 and who he is still married to.

'Chris is verbally abusive toward Mickey,' court papers said at the time. 'He yells and screams at Mickey. He threatens, intimidates, bullies, and harasses Mickey. Mickey is effectively a prisoner in his own home.'

The papers accused Aber of forcing Rooney to make certain personal appearances, and had required him to sign financial documents without reading them.

'All I want to do is live a peaceful life, to regain my life and be happy,' Rooney wrote in a statement at the time.

'I pray to God each day to protect us, help us endure, and guide those other senior citizens who are also suffering.'

Rooney's film career spans more than eight decades and he received four Academy Award nominations and an honorary Oscar.

In the 1930s and 40s, he played Andy Hardy in a series of films, and received his first Oscar nominations in 1939 for Babes in Arms and in 1943 for The Human Comedy.

Mickey Rooney has made 320 films, the first being in 1927. He married 8 times, at one time he was married to Ava Gardner who was regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world. He was a huge huge star. He lived life large and I am glad that he has expelled his little creep of a stepson out of his life.

His son is a parasite and a useless waste of space. Should have put a pic of him in the article so people could see him. Shame him.

Well if you marry enough times your bound to come across a shady character eventually esp if your elderly & have money. It's usually a much younger wife but this time it's that wife's child.
