Selena Gomez cries onstage while singing love song believed to be about ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber... but she insists the tears were for her fans

Selena Gomez appears to not be over her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber just yet.

On Wednesday night as she performed in Brooklyn she broke down in tears while singing Love Will Remember to a packed crowd, according to TMZ. The single is widely believed to be about the teen sensation she dated on and off for two years because when the tune first leaked, it featured a voicemail from Justin that started with, 'I just wanted to call to tell you that I love you so so so so much.'

The performer later tweeted that she was actually tearing up over not being able to see her fans.

Selena sang passionately as she wept. The waterworks went on throughout the song.

Dressed in a black sleeveless top, she grabbed the microphone with both hands as she belted out lines such as, 'I know it inside my heart forever will forever be ours, even if we try to forget, love will remember' and also, 'You said you loved me, I said I loved you back, what happened to that?'

The lyrics then take a hopeful turn with, 'Break down the walls, let heaven in, somewhere in forever we'll dance again.'

After she finished the number, she gave the audience an emotional thank you.

She cares: On Twitter the Texan promised to say hello to fans before she did the Late Show

After the concert she posted a photo where she was holding up a Brooklyn T-shirt.

Her caption read, 'Never ended such a beautiful show in tears because they wouldn't allow me to Instagram tonight. Completely heartbroken and pissed. Thank you SO much Brooklyn. Ill be stopping outside Letterman tomorrow to make it up if you can make it. I love you guys more than you know. Promise.'

She normally takes photos with fans after her Stars Dance tour shows. She was not allowed to on Wednesday night for some unknown reason.

Her tour - which ends November 27 in St. Louis, Missouri - has had other dramas. Over the weekend she fell off the stage in Virginia

Love isn't the only thing that hurts: The Love You Like A Love Song singer fell off the stage while performing over the weekend in Virginia

Dressed in head-to-toe white with slacks and a top that showed off her midsection, she touched her hair then put her hands in her pocket as she announced she couldn't hear anything. She then asked the waiting audience, 'What time did y'all have to get up?'

After the commercial break, Jenny told the audience, 'Sorry we had some difficulties, but we're back.' The Love You Like A Love Song singer had a hard time making it through her performance, though, and at one point stopped completely until her band started up again for her to carry on.

Later, she stepped out with the same hair style as she walked into David Letterman's studio for an appearance.

She smiled as she hid her eyes behind dark sunglasses. She looked casual in a white top and army green colored leather slacks.

Justin, 19, and Selena, 21, came out as a couple at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2011 where Justin told partygoers that Selena was his 'girlfriend.'

They went on to be photographed kissing all over the world as Biebers fans grew increasingly jealous.

Selena told Seventeen, 'I don't like hiding. I do like to keep certain things to myself, but at the end of the day, I'm 18 and I'm going to fall in love. I'm going to hang out with people and I'm going to explore myself, and I'm okay with that.'

They split in June after several reports surfaced that their careers were pulling them in different directions.

Recently the Shake It Up singer said she had a crush on artist Drake.

OMG I can not believe any of you are buying this!!! Rhianna, Ke$ha, and some other girl with long dyed blond hair who insists that she "twerked" before Miley all see how Miley went straight to # 1 in the US and UK and now they're trying to cash in. This girl is B list at best and always will be. Stunned that you girls think this is genuine.
