The video for her latest single with The Pretty Reckless has only just dropped, but Taylor Momsen is already facing hell and damnation from critics for its raunchy depiction of the seven deadly sins.

Indeed, the 20-year-old rocker strips off to play a sexed up version of first woman Eve in the promo for aptly titled new track Going To Hell, the title track from her forthcoming second studio album.

Taylor is portrayed as Eve in a pivotal scene from the video, in which she holds an apple aloft while a huge python seethes from its place around her neck.

The singer is also seen writhing around in a pair of thigh length black boots – a far cry from her comparatively wholesome former role as Jennifer Humphries in Gossip Girl.

That show seems a world away from her sexually charge new offering, which also includes appearances from a dozen naked extras charged with the task of writhing all over each other in what appears to be a simulated orgy.

Another scene shows Taylor wearing a tight leather cat-suit and an ironic crucifix while she performs the track with her band in a dank, gloomy cellar.

The gothic video has been directed by Tim Mattia – an experienced music video helmsman whose previous credits include The City by The 1975, Hey, Cruel World by Marilyn Manson and Animal by Conor Maynard ft. Wiley.

Speaking to Fuse, Taylor admitted that hew latest promo has Biblical overtones.

‘I’ve worked closely with our director, Tim Mattia’ she said. ‘It’s based around the seven deadly sins and these kind of crazy vignettes and exaggerated versions of these sins, done artistically.

‘Whether they’ll look like sins to you or not, who knows, but there’s definitely some interesting footage that I would check out.’

Taylor has also taken part in a photosshoot with Maxim, in which she flashed her lingerie while promoting her Going To Hell tour.

In an accompanying interview she argued that she's proven herself as a serious musician after making the transition from acting.

She said: '...I was 12 when I signed on to Gossip Girl, and since then I’ve had two records, toured with Guns n’ Roses…I mean, it feels like a different world.'

Taylor Momsen is a serious, talented Rock Singer who doesn't need this cheap Crutch stroking Video to sell her Music. Leave it for the Cheap untalented like Rihanna and Cyrus. As a Man, I know who and what SEXY is!!!

What an attention seeker. Trying to sell her horrible, earache inducing music by creating controversy. Just go away! This girl tries way too hard to be something she's not.
