Their wedding ceremony was as no frills as they get with Dax Shepard and longtime partner Kristen Bell tying the knot at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's Office on Thursday.

And the following day on Friday, the actor appeared to be resuming life as normal when pictured in Los Angeles.

Spotted without his new bride, Dax looked to be getting on with his day as if the nuptials hadn't even taken place.

It also appears that the couple, who were initially merely obtaining a marriage license but decided to wed on the spot, haven't even had time to get their wedding rings.

No circular band was seen on the 38-year-old star's left hand wedding finger as he hopped into a silver pick-up truck.

The actor cut a casual figure in a black hooded sweatshirt, a pair of black trousers and one of his signature flat caps.

While Kristen wasn't spotted, she was also out and about, and tweeted to fans: 'Wife coffee tastes way better than regular coffee in the morning :)'

After six years together and a baby girl Lincoln, who was welcomed into the world earlier this year in March, Kristen and Dax reportedly tied the knot on Thursday.

The couple are said to have exchanged vows at the Beverly Hills County Clerk Office in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.

The two actors wed after merely heading to the office to obtain a marriage license.

However, when an employee at the court offered to marry them right there and then, the duo decided to take the plunge.

The ceremony took place in one of the courtrooms with just the couple, the said employee and a photographer present.

According to the website, Kristen was crying throughout the small and simple ceremony.

The blonde Veronica Mars star has spoken in the past of her desire to have low-key nuptials.

She once said: 'I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper.'

The impromptu nature of the wedding comes as no surprise as the couple are known for not being the traditional kind.

Kristen asked Dax to marry her on Twitter back in June in celebration of the Supreme Court ruling in favor of same sex marriage.

The pair officially got engaged in 2009 after two years of dating, but vowed to wait until gay marriage was legal in their home state of California as a gesture of respect to their close friends.

Kristen was among many rejoicing the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act in a landmark 5-4 decision back in June.

They followed that up with a ruling against California's controversial Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state, meaning that gay marriage is now legal in California.

By striking down DOMA, the Supreme Court effectively ruled that it was not legal to prevent same-sex spouses from receiving the same benefits that heterosexual couples receive.

Kristen has famously said in the past that she wouldn’t wed until it was legal for all, telling The Advocate: 'The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends.

'That’s why we’ve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.'

Thursday's nuptials also come after the couple became a family earlier this year with the arrival of daughter Lincoln.

Both Kristen and Dax took to Twitter when their baby was born, each opting to use comedy to announce to their fans.

'My new roommate poops her pants and doesn't pay rent...basically @daxshepard1 pre-sobriety :) welcome baby Lincoln xo,' Kristen joked after her new arrival.

And Dax echoed the comic sentiment by announcing: 'Lincoln Bell Shepard is here. She has mom's beauty and dad's obsession with breasts. Hooray!!!'
