Hello Possums! Kelly Osbourne transforms herself into Aussie TV character Dame Edna Everage...then kisses gender-bending fiancé Matthew Mosshart

Kelly Osbourne got into the spirit of Halloween early with a hilarious - and eerily authentic - recreation of Australian character Dame Edna Everage.

Donning oversize cat eye glasses covered in rhinestones and pale purple hair in a puffed-up bouffant, the 28-year-old TV presenter was the spitting image of the fictional Dame from down under.

While in character, she raised eyebrows as she seemingly kissed a girl - who later turned out to be her fiance Matthew Morrison in drag.

Thanks to slapped on pale make-up, bright fuschia lipstick and a flamboyant expression, the Fashion Police host was a disturbing doppelganger of the beloved persona created by comedian Barry Humphries in the 1970s.

While the mask was plastered on, Kelly's hair was already the perfect colour for Dame Edna's famous  'wisteria hue' wig, and cheap plastic glasses matched the Aussie's 'face furniture.'

Wearing a sparkly pink dress and feather boas, Osbourne had been teasing on Twitter about who she was planning to dress up as all evening as she got ready for her Hollywood party.

'I really hope I did @realDameEdna justice! What do you guys think?' Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's daughter tweeted before her Halloween party on Saturday.

'Getting ready for a Halloween party you guys are going to laugh your asses off when you see who I'm dressing up as! lets see if you can guess,' wrote the reality star.

Kelly's cool costume choice was so unique that only one of her friends guested the identity before she started posting photos of the outfit.

'The fact that I have #NudeHose on right now is killing me I can't stop laughing!' she joked about the frumpy ensemble.

The fun-loving British celebrity went on to post a flood of photos with other guests from the fancy dress party, including Eddie Murphy's over-sized character, the Nutty Professor. 'Hercules, Hercules, Hercules,' she quoted from the 1996 comedy.

She was also snapped with a scary looking monster with bolts in his head and a suit of armour, saying: 'Me and the incredible #RickBaker who is the genius behind all these special effects makeup master pieces! #macmonsters,' and other shots with a friend dressed as 1980s TV character, Blossom.

Dame Edna Everage was so popular in her prime in part thanks to the jubilant catchphrase, 'Hello, Possums!' that along with countless television shows and stage performances, Humphries, now 79, even wrote an entire biography about her fictional life.

Edna's talented, funny, entertaining, witty and one of a kind. Kelly is none of these.

But Dame Edna had a talent, unlike Ms. Osbourne. And the purple hair was a wig, unlike Kelly's unfortunately.
