The Programme Press Conference for the 64th Berlin International Film Festival will be held on January 28, 2014, at 11 am in the Press and Information Office of the German Federal Government. As always, this press conference is reserved for invited members of the press.

Dear Journalist

Here you’ll find an overview of the various services that the Berlinale provides for members of the press. During the festival itself, most of the services for journalists can be found in the Press Centre. The Press Centre is located on the first floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, directly opposite the Berlinale Palast. There you will find the press offices, press facilities, the press writing room, the press conference room and the photo call location. Additional press services can be found on the basement level of the Berlinale Palast.

Please note: There are no press boxes.

  • Press accreditation is available to those reporting on the Berlinale for all types of media (print, online, TV, radio, web-TV, photography) as well as PR agents representing the festival films
  • You will find more information as well as all the necessary contacts in the menu item under Accreditation
  • A press card cannot replace the proof of your qualifications which are requested.

Services in the Press Centre:

Issuance of press accreditations

  • Information on times and events
  • Information on Press Conferences, Photo Calls, interview opportunities and other information relevant to the press
  • Issuance of special photographer’s ID cards for galas with limited access
  • Appointment coordination for interview rooms

The offices for the Head of Press and the Press Team can be found adjoining the Press Counter.

  • Located in the immediate vicinity of the Press Counter
  • Press tickets become available on the day before a screening
  • For some press screenings marked as such, only a Press Accreditation is required for entrance
  • Film clips and electronic press kits for festival films of all sections are available for download
  • In-house festival footage (DigiBeta) of Press Conferences, Photo Calls, opening events, award presentations, presentation of the Shooting Stars and Red Carpet appearances of stars attending Competition galas is available royalty-free and subject to certain conditions by contacting
  • Camera spaces in the Red Carpet Press Line at gala events can be reserved via . Only for TV channels / TV agencies. Early reservation necessary. The Berlinale is not obliged to guarantee space
  • The opening ceremony and awards ceremony are filmed by the pool leader and broadcast unencrypted via the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) satellite network. TV channels are free to use limited amounts of the footage free of charge and royalty-free, subject to certain conditions. Please send your queries to
  • Filming by TV crews at the opening and closing events or any special events requires special accreditations, which can be obtained via . The Berlinale is not obliged to accept every request
  • A stand-up position for live broadcasts from the Red Carpet must be booked in advance
  • A parking position for a broadcast van must be requested and registered with the TV/Radio Service:
  • An external provider located directly besides the TV Radio Service offers video copying services for TV clips for a fee
  • The Berlinale press office is responsible for coordination of interviews with jury members, Homage guests and the Festival Director. Please send your enquiry to
  • Interview rooms can be reserved in the Partner Lounges, in Lounge 4 in the Berlinale Palast and other spaces. Requests and questions on technical details or logistical issues should be sent to:

Important note: Please contact the appropriate PR agent for interviews with directors, actors and other members of film crews who are not members of a Berlinale jury. An up-to-date list of PR agents is made available shortly before the festival.

  • Competition films: usually directly following the press screening
  • Panorama Special and Berlinale Special films: individual scheduling

Where:

  • Press conference room in the Press Centre, 1st floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel directly opposite the Berlinale Palast

  • Additional press talks for the films of the various sections – apart from the Competition – often take place in the theatre directly after the screening

Filming/Recording:

  • The Berlinale films Press Conferences using professional three-camera technology
  • Please find the conditions for use of footage at Press Conferences
  • The Berlinale produces digital mp3 recordings for radio use – in both original language and with English and German translation.
  • Press conferences are broadcast via live video stream on the Berlinale website and can later be replayed from the archive
Our TV/Radio Service can answer any question:
  • Photo Calls usually take place before Press Conferences in the Photo Call area adjoining the Press Conference room
  • The actors and directors taking part in the Press Conferences will be present
  • Photographer spaces at Photo Calls and next to the Red Carpet are organized by the Press Counter and must be reserved in advance at the Press Counter:
  • Requests for photographer spaces should be submitted by January 15. The Berlinale is not obliged to guarantee spaces
  • TV camera crews cannot access Photo Calls. The festival’s in-house footage of Photo Calls can be requested from our TV/Radio Service
  • Film stills for use with Berlinale coverage are available royalty-free from January 15 - March 15 and can be found online at Film Stills
  • Festival impressions, portraits of the Festival Director and section heads as well as the festival posters can be provided upon request. Please find more information at Press Photos

  • An external provider will offer copying service for TV clips for a fee directly next to the TV/Radio Office.

  • Journalists can also go online over several wireless Hot Spots
