Innocent victim: JD Humphreys, 31, a student from Kenmore, Washington, was found dead on the side of a road after being struck by a truck
A woman who reported finding the body of a man on the side of a road in Washington state is now facing charges in a deadly hit-and-run crash.
Sydney Jones, 24, of Kenmore, turned herself in to police custody Monday and was ordered held on $25,000 bond.
She is accused of running over 31-year-old Joseph 'JD' Humphreys with her truck earlier that day as he was walking to his parents' house.
Last night, Jones posted bond and was allowed to leave the King County Jail after her attorney successfully argued that she is not a flight risk because she has a 16-month-old baby.
Jones' attorney said during Tuesday’s court appearance that his client is a recovering heroin addict and may be suffering from bipolar disorder.
Jones was not present in the courtroom, but her parents were there along with the victim's family.

Web of lies: Sydney Jones called police to report that she was walking her dog along 62nd Avenue Northeast when she spotted a man's body on the side of the road
Truth revealed: Jones' ruse quickly fell apart when officers matched a broken headlight found at the scene to her Ford F-150 truck
The local station KIRO-TV caught up with the 24-year-old suspect outside of jail. When asked if she was remorseful about what happened, the woman replied, 'Of course I'm sorry.'
According to investigators, Jones was driving in her truck along 62nd Avenue Northeast early Monday morning when she struck and killed Humphreys.
The woman fled from the scene, but at around 1.30am called 911 to report that she was walking her dog in the 18400 block of 62nd Avenue when she came across a man's body on the side of the road.
Jones' alleged ruse quickly fell apart when officers matched a broken headlight found at the scene of the crash to her white Ford F-150 truck they seized three blocks from the site of the accident.
Emotional encounter: During Jones' initial court appearance, her father was seen comforting the 31-year-old victim's parents
At around 2pm Monday, Miss Jones arrived at the Kenmore City Hall and admitted that she was the one who ran over community college student JD Humphreys.
During Tuesday’s court hearing, Jones' father was seen comforting the 31-year-old victim’s parents.
Jones is due back in court Thursday. If convicted of felony hit and run, she could face 31 to 41 months behind bars, MyNorthwest.com reported.
