THE $6MILLION PROPOSAL?

THE VENUE - $220,000+
AT&T baseball Stadium in San Francisco. Renting out the space for a private event costs $200,000, with another $20,000 for use of the scoreboard, although E! reports the use was gifted to Kanye by the owner of the San Francisco Giants, who was amongst the guests.

THE GUESTS - $15,000+
Kanye flew in 50 hand-picked members of the couple's family and their closest friends by private jet, having personally invited them and sworn them to secrecy. They included 'several Silicon Valley billionaires', reports TMZ

Kanye serenaded Kim to the sound of a 50-strong orchestra, who were paid up to $1,000 a piece as a reward for their discretion, four times their normal rate. A fireworks display then lit up the night sky, costing upwards of $25,000.

Kanye popped the question on Kim's 33rd birthday on Monday at the AT&T Park baseball park.

The hip hop star, who is in the midst of a world tour, first serenaded the mother of his child with a 50 piece orchestra.

The band struck up the romantic ballad Young And Beautiful from film The Great Gatsby by songstress Lana Del Rey, followed by his own hit with Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo, Knock You Down.

The 36-year-old then arranged for the words 'PLEEESE MARRY MEEE!!!' to flash up on the giant scoreboard.

The proposal left Kim speechless, for once.

'She was shocked and couldn't speak after,' a source a the scene told People magazine. 'Everyone had mascara running down their faces from tears.'

After Kim said yes, Kanye slipped the 15 carat diamond ring, priced at anything from $1.6m to $6m, onto her finger as fireworks exploded in the sky as the rest of her family ran out of the dugouts to surprise her.

After the lights went up the guests dined on sushi and snapped pictures of Kim, with many 'in tears', according to Us Weekly.

Although she was speechless following the proposal, by Tuesday Kim had recovered.

'Last night was truly magical!!! I am the luckiest girl in the world!' she told E! 'I get to marry my best friend!'

From the ring to the guests, Kanye personally oversaw every detail of the special moment.

The 'flawless' cushion cut diamond is, according to the firm's rep, 'a D-stone, the best diamond there is, type 2A'.She added: 'Kanye was involved in every single way. He had a vision from the beginning.

'He looked at a lot of stones and he wanted only the best. He and Lorraine emailed back and forth,  and stayed up nights discussing how he wanted it to be.'

Tobias Kormind, co-founder of specialist diamond jeweller 77 Diamonds, told MailOnline: 'I would estimate that a diamond of this size and quality would be worth well over £1 million; Kim is a very lucky woman!'

Kanye also 'personally invited everybody' several days ago, a source told Us Weekly, with about 50 hand-picked guests sworn to secrecy.

This included around 20 of Kim's family members and close friends, Kanye's friends from his hometown, plus the owners of the San Francisco Giants and several 'Silicon Valley billionaires.

Kanye had asked permission from the family matriarch for her daughter's hand in marriage earlier in the day, reported E!

Kris Jenner described the couple as: 'A match made in heaven!', adding: 'I am so happy for both of my kids, Kim and Kanye.'

The orchestra members were also celebrating, reports TMZ, having been paid up to $1,000 a piece to be part of the romantic moment, up to four times their normal rate.

Of course, should Kim forget any aspect of the proposal she will soon have her memory refreshed - the whole scene was captured on camera, perhaps for her E! reality show.

In a snap posted on Instagram, Kim is seen holding her ring finger towards the camera as she flashes her gigantic dazzling engagement band while smiling broadly alongside her man.

On Tuesday morning, the delighted new mother posted a black and white picture of her new bling in front of the romantic scoreboard message, with the simple caption: 'Yes!!!'

Clad in a $6,800 Valentino dress, her nails manicured in white to better showcase her new bling, it certainly looked like Kim had made an effort to look good.

Kanye proposed to girlfriend of 18 months just days after telling the audience at his concert in Seattle on Saturday that he planned to marry her 'one day.'

But he certainly kept the birthday girl guessing about his intentions.

Kanye was in Los Angeles earlier in the day at the Hollywood Film Awards, and it was therefore unclear whether he planned to spend the evening with her.

The rapper flew in from San Francisco to present director Steve McQueen with a special honor award at the ceremony, and it appears he flew straight back to the Bay Area city straight afterwards to see the mother of his child.

However, the wedding drama has already begun for the couple, with Kim's family said to be debating who will walk the star down the aisle when the pair eventually tie the knot.

Kim's father, lawyer Robert Kardashian, passed away in 2003, and Kris Jenner is now said to be keen for her son Rob to do the honours in the wake of her split from husband of 22 years, Bruce Jenner.
