Listen: The Flaming Lips' Ender's Game-Inspired "Assassin Beetle - The Dream Is Ending"

The Flaming Lips were so inspired by the song they made for the forthcoming film adaption of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game that they made a whole EP of music based on it. The project, the six-track Peace Sword EP, is out digitally on October 29 and then on CD and vinyl on November 29 for Record Store Day's Back to Black Friday. Check out one of the tracks, "Assassin Beetle - The Dream Is Ending", above.

Tonight, Fleet Foxes' frontman Robin Pecknold and Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles' Daniel Rossen teamed up to cover "Corduroy". Watch their performance below.

Along with its annual April holiday, the organizers of Record Store Day have been partaking in the American tradition of Black Friday for the past few years. They've now announced the list of record titles that will be available exclusively at independent record stores on that day, November 29, for Back to Black Friday. Check out the full list here.

Sufjan Stevens: "It's A Long Life Live Jam" (via SoundCloud)
Following his recently-shared "Take Me", Sufjan Stevens has posted another demo on his Tumblr. This one is an early recording "that evolved into the last party section of 'Impossible Soul'," the 25-minute closer from 2010's The Age of Adz. He writes that the "hilarious" track was found on an old hard drive, documenting a "live jam session" in Seattle around 2009.

The first release from Solange's new boutique label Saint Records has been announced. It's a compilation called Saint Heron, featuring 12 original songs from an all-star list of very contemporary left-of-center R&B artists, including Cassie, Sampha, Jhené Aiko, Petite Noir, Jade De La Fleur, Starchild, BC Kingdom, India Shawn, Iman Omari, and Solange herself. The first single is Kelela's "Go All Night", which was briefly teased on her new Cut 4 Me mixtape. (Kelela also appears on a second track on the compilation, a collaboration with Kingdom.)
