This blogsite began a little over two years ago, as a personal attempt to provide a resource for gay/queer Catholics attempting to reconcile their faith and sexuality. Over those two years, it has changed in character: there has been much more of my opinion and news commentary, and correspondingly less of the resource material than I intended originally; and the focus has broadened, to included other denominations as well, and also some attention to some purely secular discussion of sexuality. It has also acquired an extensive archive of material. Readers who have been with me from the start may know their way around, but newcomers will not. There are a number of new readers coming in just now, as I am in the process of moving to a new hosting company, and with it to a new domain name. Some readers who thought they were being directed to a specific post by a search engine may be surprised to find that they have simply arrived at a generic front page for the blog. I hope these notes will help.

There are three primary methods you could use to find your way around: the search box, the categories and tags, and the back pages, shown on the horizontal navigation bar across the top. None of these are yet working entirely satisfactorily, but the occasion of the current migration is an opportunity to beef them up substantially.

If you are looking for a specific post or topic,  try using the search box in the top right corner. If you have the exact wording of the post you are looking for, place it in quote marks. Otherwise, use key words. This tool is at present the basic one that comes as standard with WordPress: I may replace it with something more sophisticated later – we’ll see.

If you are looking for a particular topic, but not one specific post, you could also use the category box in the right hand side bar. The number and definition of categories at present  is not satisfactory, and I will revise it later – but not yet. Other issues are more important.

If you simply want to browse the content, explore the pages listed in the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page. It is these pages that originally I wanted to be the heart of the site, but it has taken me all the past two years to work out just how to implement them. I think I now know where I want to go with them – but getting there will take time. In principle, the pages that you see are top-level pages, each holding specialist pages as subdivisions. Hover over a page in the navigation bar, and you will see the sub-pages it holds. Go to any page, and you will find (or will, in time) a general description of that topic, and a series of links to specific posts on that subject. Building these pages is very much a work in progress, and will never be completed. Right now in particular, there are some big gaps I am working to fill as a top priority, and many of the links are not yet working. The migration to my new domain is creating a great deal of work for me, and may cause some short term disruption for my readers: rest assured that I am working constantly to get beyond these temporary difficulties to make the site what it was always intended to be: a comprehensive resource base for gay, lesbian or trans Catholics, other Christians – and anybody else interested in following the path to full LGBT equality and inclusion.
