The Halloween couple contest is on! Kristin Chenoweth and Jake Pavelka lose out to Slash and wife Perla's terrifying make up

The heat is on and the parties are thriving, with less than a week until Halloween.

Saturday night saw half of Hollywood out in their scariest and sexiest, and leading the way in the unofficial couples contest were surely Slash and Perla and Kristin Chenoweth and Jake Pavelka.

The Guns N' Roses star and his wife went all out with the creepy factor incorporating horrifying zombie makeup, while the blonde singer and her reality star boy toy represented various real and fictional arms of law enforcement.

Kristin's rumoured boyfriend Jake was truly dedicated to the cause as the pair showed up at Matthew Morrison's scary bash in a full Stormtrooper costume, with his blonde head fully engulfed in an uncomfortable looking helmet.

The Pushing Daisies star certainly nailed the necessary 'sexy' element of her costume as she strode in dressed as a SWAT agent, but certainly did not meet The Bachelor star's standard in terms of commitment.

SWAT agents typically do not wear skin-tight leather trousers or knee-high boots, but Kristin, 45, will be forgiven on this occasion for looking utterly striking in the clingy garments.

But there's no denying that Slash and Perla could not have possibly been upstaged as very dead-looking zombies with elaborate white face makeup, and thus won the couples' costume stakes fair and square.

Perla slipped into a sexy red sequined dress and wore a similarly coloured wig as her face was decorated with gaudy makeup, while her rocker husband's scary face paint even included a realistic looking slit neck.

Remarkably, Perla still managed to pull off the sexy factor in spite of her ghoulish efforts.

Halloween is clearly Slash and Perla's jam, because last weekend the couple spent hours in the chair having their makeup and prosthetics applied by Oscar Award winning make-up artist Rick Baker for another set of Halloween parties.

Slash, real name Saul Hudson, bundled his famous black curly locks up in a bun as a make-up artist got to work with an airbrush and applied creepy plastic horns and faux wrinkles to his face.

The rocker was seen sitting patiently in a chair, shirtless to show off his numerous tattoos.

After what appeared to be a lengthy session, Slash put his signature black top hat back on his head and displayed a hint of his chest in an unbuttoned shirt and matching trousers.

Meanwhile, wife Perla looked just as horrifying with matching horns and icy blue eye contacts to her hubby.

The normally red headed beauty also donned a long black wig and had very sharp long acrylics  applied to her finger nails.

The mother-of-two vamped up her appearance by showing off plenty of cleavage in a black corset teamed with black clinging leggings.

Slash and his wife have been married for 12 years, and renewed their wedding vows in 2011 on their 10th anniversary.

The couple's renewal came after the pair came close to splitting around the same time in 2009.

Slash had filed for divorce from Perla, citing 'irreconcilable differences.'

But just four months later he called it off.

The musician put in a request for the dismissal of the papers at Los Angeles Superior Court.
