'We are so blessed': Alfonso Ribeiro and wife Angela Unkrich welcome their very own Fresh Prince
|
Alfonso Ribeiro and his wife Angela Unkrich welcomed their first child together over the weekend.
The former Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air star - who also has an 11-year-old daughter named Sienna from a previous marriage - made the happy announcement on his Twitter page.
'Alfonso Lincoln Ribiero Jr was born today at 10:45am. We are so blessed,' the proud father tweeted on Sunday.
Baby joy: Alfonso Ribeiro and his wife Angela Unkrich, pictured at the After Earth premiere on May 29, became parents to a bouncing baby boy they named Alfonso Lincoln Jr on Sunday
The TV star-turned-director, 42, also tipped his hat to the doctor who delivered his son.
'We also want to thank our amazing Dr Jason Rothbart. He was so great and a calming influence in the room,' Alfonso wrote.
The bouncing baby boy weighed in at a robust seven pounds, 10 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long, according to Us Weekly.
Wait is over: The parents decided to wait until the delivery to find out if their first child together was a boy or a girl, and now the suspense is over; the couple was pictured on a stroll in Toluca Lake on October 8
'They are all healthy, happy, and exhausted,' Ribeiro's spokesperson told the magazine.
The couple, who wed in October 2012, didn't know if the baby was a boy or a girl until the moment arrived in the delivery room.
In September, Alfonso told People: 'We still don’t know the gender as we decided to hold out and be surprised.
Most famous role: Alfonso played the spoiled, rich Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air opposite Will Smith for six years until 1996
'One thing we know is that it’s a very active baby. He or she has been kicking and punching around the clock. It never gets old to see the little feet imprinted on the belly during the kicking episodes.'
Alfonso starred on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air alongside Will Smith from 1990 to 1996.
While Smith has gone to star in such movie blockbusters as Independence Day and Men In Black, Alfonso's career has taken him to directing such programs as Disney's Shake It Up.
However, Alfonso's Fresh Prince character is still remembered to this day for breaking into a dance every time he heard Tom Jones' It's Not Unusual, what became known as 'The Carlton Dance.'
Still friendly: Alfonso shared a laugh with his former co-star at the Producers Guild Awards in 2006; while Will has furthered his career in movies, Alfonso likes directing

A very good actor. I remember watching him in small roles in the mid 80s on programmes like Magnum PI.
