Ideas Editor at BuzzFeed in New York, NY

BuzzFeed is seeking an obsessed and experienced editor who will bring vital, diverse, and thought-provoking voices to the site. We're looking for voices that resonate on the social web because they're driving or tapping into the current cultural conversation. The right person is a talented editor who is informed, eager to build a set of up-and-coming writers, and is more interested in a well-crafted argument, reported piece, cultural criticism, or smart experiential essay than a conventional op-ed. The position is based in our New York office.

Responsibilities

• Seek out smart, new voices and commission pieces on a wide variety of topics

• Write

• Edit posts

• Respond to pitches from contributors

• Stay attuned to topics that are making the internet buzz

Requirements:

• At least 2 years' experience arguing on the internet

• Great news judgment

• Eagerness to invent a space beyond the traditional, stale newspaper op-ed page

• A sense of humor!
