He’s used to being the star attraction wherever he goes but this time Leonardo DiCaprio had to settle for being second choice.

The 38-year-old actor gamely stepped in to introduce the world restoration premiere of Rebel Without a Cause at LACMA in Los Angeles on Thursday after his close friend and frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese had to pull out.

However, no doubt the female attendees, including beautiful brunette actress Camilla Belle, will have been quite happy to see the handsome star take to the stage.

While Camilla, 27, looked lovely with her dark hair pulled back off her face and wearing some bright pink lipstick, her choice of outfit let her down.

The 10,000 BC actress dressed almost entirely in leather for her walk down the special black carpet.
Her all black outfit consisted of leather trousers, leather boots and a leather turtleneck and overall failed to flatter.

DiCaprio donned a suit and shirt as he took to the stage but kept things casual by forgoing a tie and leaving a few buttons of his shirt unbuttoned.

The actor appeared to be in good spirits, flashing a smile as he introduced the iconic film, which launched Natalie Wood and Dennis Hopper to fame and immortalised James Dean as a Hollywood icon.

At the event, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art unveiled a fresh restoration of Nicholas Ray’s iconic movie, just one of several recent events working with Scorsese and his Film Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to film preservation and education.

The restoration was sponsored by Gucci and carried out by Warner Bros.

While it is a cause close to the Wolf of Wall Street director’s heart, a scheduling conflict caused him to miss the premiere in Los Angeles on Friday.

A statement on LACMA’s website stated: ‘Gucci, The Film Foundation, and Warner Bros.

Entertainment present the world restoration premiere of Rebel Without a Cause. The film immortalized James Dean; launched the Hollywood careers of Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, and Dennis Hopper; and captured the zeitgeist of the 1950s through the prism of teenage angst. The restoration of the film was done in 4K digital.

‘Due to a scheduling conflict, Martin Scorsese will not introduce the film. Instead, a special guest will present on his behalf.’

On Saturday Scorsese will be honoured at the museum’s third annual Art+Film Gala alongside painter David Hockney.

Now Leo lost his babyface, he looks a lot like Jack Nicholson. Both are two of my favourite actors, so I am not complaining.
