Chris Brown is receiving psychological counselling in rehab after acknowledging he has a major anger management problem.

The 24-year-old checked into a treatment facility in Malibu, California, on Tuesday following an arrest for assault after allegedly breaking a man's nose outside a hotel in Washington D.C. on Sunday.

The Fine China singer and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, reportedly met with his new probation officer for an hour long chat on Friday, during which he confessed he has a big anger problem.

Brown is also said to have discussed his decision to voluntarily seek help and the treatment he is receiving.

But a source told gossip website TMZ.com that the Los Angeles County Probation Department wasn't impressed and said: ‘They're gunning for Chris.’

Officials are set to submit a report to the judge overseeing Chris' probation stemming from his assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 next week.

Brown could be sentenced to four years in State prison if his probation is revoked.

It was previously reported that the star's probation officers thought the singer's decision to seek help for his issues was ‘too little, too late,’ even though he is planning to stay in rehab for three months.

Meanwhile, video footage of Brown’s alleged assault last Sunday has yet to emerge.

Sources told TMZ that while there are various cameras in the surrounding area, connected to the hotel where the altercation was said to take place, none of them were ‘trained on the fight’.

Police and Brown’s legal team have tried to hunt down a video but to no avail.

The lack of video footage could play in Brown’s favour as a secret service agent is reported to have been in the vicinity of the altercation.

The government agent is said to have overheard the alleged victim tell the responding police officer that Brown ‘did not punch him’.

Although, the D.C. officer counter-claims that the victim had never uttered those words in his recollection.

Said it before, the guy needs FIVE YEARS OUT, whoever is managing him is managing wrong. Five years out does not have to mean completely faceless, he could still do the odd tv appearance and talent show. But on the whole he needs to buy a private island and just chill and find himself. He is lost in his anger and this entertainment industry and he cannot and never has coped. The guy is an artist he can sing, dance, do artist and more, but all that is lost with his negative side.

He's a celebrity in California. No way will he get (well deserved) time in lock up. Like Lindsay Lohan before him, he get endless "second" chances as he goes through life behaving like a giant violent and spoiled toddler, kicking and punching away. And if he really did not have any involvement and never touched the man in DC, why did he check himself into anger management rehab? Seriously, if you were completely innocent and certain that the witnesses saw you had no physical involvement, would you drop everything and commit to 3 MONTHS of rehabilitation???

It isn't about him it's about the next unfortunate person who runs into him when he is having an off day. If he is unable to live in society he needs to be locked up.

I've observed in the area that I live in if a person, (not high profile) gets themselves into legal trouble through drugs, alcohol, or whatever the charge maybe, they immediately check themselves into a rehab facility, Their sentence gets reduced or dropped at that point. Not all people can afford a 30 to 90 day stay in these facilities so my point is that I think it's unfair. It's essentially buying themselves out of the legal woe where most people can't afford to do that. I agree with the judge as far as a little to late. Chris should have been advised to seek long term psychotherapy when the incident occurred with Rhianna years ago.

He really needs to get some therapy or just come to terms with the fact that eventually he will need to come out!

He is a very, very dangerous guy - and I don't think any expert can change him. He is too deeply disturbed, it's his personality, and it's hard to change someone's personality; especially when they've gotten this "old".
