She claimed her single Work B**ch is a tribute to her gay fans, but Britney Spears could come under fire after it was revealed her favourite writer Max Lucado is a homophobic preacher.

During a recent Twitter Q&A to promote her new album Britney Jean, Spears responded ‘Anything by Max Lucado’, when asked ‘What is your favourite book?’

Yet in 2004, Lucado, wrote an article called What God Says About Gay Marriage, in which he claimed homosexuality could be just one step away from ‘legalised incest’.

Under fire: She claimed her single Work B**ch is a tribute to her gay fans, but Britney Spears has come under fire after it was revealed her favourite writer Max Lucado is a homophobic preacher

He wrote: ‘How will homosexuality impact our culture? What about the spread of disease? If gay lifestyle and gay marriage is endorsed – what follows? Polygamy? Legalized incest? If we can’t draw a line, will lines be drawn at all? Men and women were not intended for identical gender but opposite (sic).’

Under three headlines, he outlines the reasons why gay marriage should not be allowed, including ‘The legalization of gay marriages will erode the traditional family, Legalized gay marriage will lead to legalized polygamy and other deviations, The highest reason, however, for opposing gay marriage is simply this: God does (sic).’

Lucado, who is a preacher at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, is no relation to Britney’s boyfriend David Lucado.

The news of the preacher’s beliefs is sure to come as a shock to Britney, who is known for her love of her gay fan base.

During a recent appearance on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man talk show in London, she revealed how her gay friends had inspired her single Work B**ch.

‘I don’t call everyone…that word. I just use it as, it’s like in respect to the gays as a term of endearment,’ she told openly gay host Alan Carr.

‘It’s like a street slang for everyone, you know, like you get to work, that’s what you do when you get to work and it’s like, cool.’

Last month during an interview with San Francisco's 99.7 NOW FM, Britney also revealed many of her close friends and colleagues are homosexuals.

When asked about the influence the lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community has had on her music, she said, 'A lot of my hair stylists and my beauty team that I work with are gay so I hang out with gays a lot and I just think they're adorable and hilarious.'

Meanwhile, in 2011, she told Out magazine regarding gay marriage, ‘I think everyone should be treated equally.’ When asked how she would feel if one her sons turned out to be gay, Spears said, ‘I love my boys no matter what.’

I doubt Britney has read a single book as an adult. Probably heard the guy was a pastor and thought it was the right thing to say. Ignorance isn't always bliss!!

Dear Daily Mail. The Pastor in question is not homophobic. Just because he stands up for good morals and good standards, it doesn't mean he hates gay people. If the Daily Mail starts going down the same sinister path as the liberal-left political parties, BBC, Guardian etc, the paper will start to lose readers, so come on DM, get back to what your good at, exposing corruption at the top and striving to restore the UK back to its rightful position of being a happy, free, morally and economically prosperous nation once again.

Hate to break it to you, but believing what Max Lucado preaches is not homophobic, just biblical Chrisitianity. That label gets bandied about way too much.

Believing what the Bible says about gays does NOT then equate to hating gays. The Bible teaches we should love others, period. So Britney can continue to love her gay fan base because that's what the Bible teaches. But if along the way they want to know what the Bible says about the gay lifestyle, Lucado is there to share that. And if gays don't want to know what the Bible says about their lifestyle or know but don't care, they're free to ignore it. Freedom...it's a lovely thing. But let's not accuse people of hate just because they believe what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, what we say does not need the approval of the homosexual community,or does it?

How terrible would it be if a preacher daring to speak of God's Word had the audacity to offend the gay community and its hangers-on. Can't have that, now, can we?

Everyone has a moral standard, some people choose to live their lives by the way they feel, others choose to live theirs by the standard outline in their holy book by a creator they have come to recognize, people have a right to free speech, no one should be persecuted for their lifestyle, and that includes gays giving those who don't agree with them a break, and heterosexual having the right to their opinion whilst not abusing those who are not living a heterosexual lifestyle. Their is a vast difference between saying an act is wrong and being abusive to the perpetrator of that act.
