The AMA Safe Hours Audit 2011 report was launched on 13 July 2012. The Safe Hours Audit was conducted over a seven day period in August last year. More than 1500 junior and salaried doctors from across Australia took part in the audit. This is a tremendous effort, contributing to the significance of the survey results. Read more

The AMA has developed a Privacy Resource handbook to help doctors comply with the Privacy Act 1988.

The Resource handbook is based on the Privacy Act 1988 in force as at 1 July 2010.

The AMA intends to update this Resource Book if the proposed changes become law.

Medical practitioners (doctors involved in patient care) can make a significant contribution to the effective and efficient management of public and private hospitals. Doctors can contribute to better management of health costs while ensuring quality patient care and outcomes by being involved in decisions about resource allocation and the purchasing of services for the provision of patient care.

The management of hospitals works best when doctors are engaged in clinical and corporate governance.
