Dramatic story of 1930s pioneer Gerda Taro, the first female photographer to die in battle, brought to life in new book
German-Hungarian photojournalist Gerda Taro was killed in 1937 while covering the Battle of Brunete during the Spanish Civil War. Previously overshadowed by her colleague and lover Robert Capa, Taro's contribution has been reassessed following the discovery of a suitcase of negatives that proved much of the work attributed to him actually belonged to her. Capa himself met a similar fate in 1954 when he was killed by a landmine while covering the First Indochina War.

PIMMS BONFIRE NIGHT COCKTAILS: It's not just a summer tipple thanks to Pimms Blackberry & Elderflower

Mix one part Pimms Blackberry & Elderflower with two parts lemonade. Serve with ice and garnish with blackberries.
35ml Pimms Blackberry & Elderflower
10ml Fresh lemon juice
10ml Elderflower cordial
Top with champagne
Method: Add the Pimms, lemon juice and cordial to a cocktail shaker and mix. Pour into a champagne flute and top with champagne. Garnish with fresh blackberries or a twist of lime.
50ml Pimms Blackberry & Elderflower
150ml Cloudy apple juice
15ml Fresh lemon juice
10ml Toffee syrup or maple syrup
Method: Add all ingredients to a pan and heat through - be careful not to boil. Pour into a heatproof glass or tea cup and garnish with a slice of apple.

15ml Fresh lime juice
10ml Ginger syrup
Top with ginger beer
Method: Add the Pimms, lime and ginger syrup to a wine glass with ice cubes. Top with ginger beer and garnish with blackberries.

15ml Clove syrup
1 inch Fresh ginger, muddled
15ml Fresh lemon juice
1 Free range egg white
Add fresh ginger to a cocktail shaker and muddle until you can see extracted juice. Mix in rest of ingredients and shake. Strain into high-ball glass over ice. Garnish with ginger and lemon.
50ml Pimms Blackberry and Elderflower
Pinch of cinnamon
Glassware: Sturdy, heavy glassware
Method: Add all ingredients to glassware, churn over crushed ice. Fill with crushed ice and garnish with a large mint sprig and a cinnamon stick.
