Better late than never! Sarah Jessica Parker FINALLY joins Twitter

Sarah Jessica Parker has become the latest celebrity to join Twitter, posting her very first tweet on Tuesday night.

The 48-year-old actress had resisted the urge to join the micro-blogging site for years, but finally gave in as she promoted the AOL documentary series about the New York City Ballet - which she executive produced.

Despite only having joined Twitter 11 hours ago, Sarah Jessica, who uses the handle @SJP, already has nearly 440,000 followers, with that number increasing by the second.

The mother-of-three also opted for a slightly anonymous avatar picture - an extreme close-up shot of one of her eyes.

For her first message on the site, Sarah Jessica wrote: 'Very 1st tweet. Proud to share my new series city.ballet. on AOL On. @NYCballet dancers = extraordinary!', before sharing a link to the first episode.

Sarah Jessica's tweet came after she attended the premiere for the series on Monday night, looking chic in a  blush-colored ruched cocktail dress that she matched with a cropped black leather silver studded blazer.

She paired the unconventional dress with a pair of Persian green stiletto shows and a Dolce & Gabbana two-tone clutch of blue and black. 

Around her neck Parker wore a bib-style antique diamond necklace brimming with antique cushion-cut gems.

The necklace featured three central circular star pendents with large European cut diamonds in the center. She paired the necklace with a ball link chain of diamonds.

The Sex and the City actress was beaming on the carpet, smiling wide and glowing in good health. Although a bit risky, the high-concept outfit looked cute and flattered Parker's slender form.

Parker is the executive producer of the show city.ballet. As a New York City Ballet board member, she helped create the behind-the-scenes look at the dancers and producers behind City Ballet.

In addition to producing duties, Parker also narrates the six to eight minute episode that exposes the inner workings of the troupe.

I just started to follow her as well since I am a die-hard Sex and the City fan. However as much as I like her I suspect her views may be rather boring and dull (well, I have seen her TV interviews..)
