Famous photographer Bruce Weber, who has shot campaigns for brands like Versace and Abercrombie as well as editorials for magazines including Vogue, has opened up about the time he had to kick Cindy Crawford off of a set.

In an interview with Huffington Post Live on Tuesday, he revealed that Crawford, now 47, is the only model he has ever sent home from a shoot.

‘It was on a Revlon shooting, and she was so rude to the whole team and the crew,’ recalled Weber, who is promoting his upcoming film series at the renowned New York indie movie theater, Film Forum.

Live with Bruce: Bruce Weber told Huffington Post Live that Cindy Crawford is the only model he ever kicked off the set of a shoot

According to Weber, the shoot, which took place more than a decade ago, was photographed on-location at a boxing gym in Los Angeles and featured old boxers.

Crawford, who ended her contract with Revlon in 2001, apparently told the shoot’s art director, ‘Why is Bruce photographing those old boxers when he would be photographing me? My makeup is ready,’ Weber recalled.

‘[The art director] came and he told me, and I walked up to her and I said, “Did you say that” she said yes,’ he told the online talk show.

Weber told Crawford ‘Get out of here,’ and she left crying. He says that Crawford is ‘the only model I ever sent back.’ He says the two have become friends since the incident.

The photographer, who is renowned for his all-American aesthetic in which models are often photographed with a rosy glow, says that he tries to feature ‘men and women to are really healthy.’

Now and then: Weber says that he and Crawford are now friends

Young models with eating disorders, however commonplace in the fashion industry, still upset him.

Weber has never banished a model for being too thin. ‘If somebody was really too thin for a shooting, I would just put a lot of clothes on her. And I would talk to her agency, and I would say: "I think you've got to watch this girl. She needs your help,"’ Weber said.

Weber also addressed the sex abuse allegations brought against his fellow fashion photographer, Terry Richardson.

While Weber admitted that he does not know Richardson ‘very well’ and that he does not want to be ‘judgemental about [the allegations] because I really don’t know the whole story,’ he does hope that ‘if it’s true, Terry gets some help.’

Weber emphasized that ‘each photographer has to stand for something…we do have a voice, a big voice, and so I try to make my voice stand for something I believe in.’

He says that he refuses to photograph fur, and that Donatella Versace once even recreated her runway fur designs in faux materials for Weber to photograph for an ad campaign.

‘I called her and I said, “I can't shoot it for you. I have too many animals in my life, I'’d be so hypocritical.” And she made all the fur in it fake fur,’ he recalled.

So, he says they have become friends since this happened..... He does not know the meaning of the word. Maybe she was rude and full of herself back then, but if you are now friends, why keep telling people about this? Not cool.

Cindy might have been dumb and clueless, but the only person being rude on the set was indeed the photographer Bruce Weber. (Who thinks too much of himself)

News must be very thin on the ground today. This is the umpteenth non-article in the DM so far.

You are only bringing this up for your own ego.

Good for him on his anti fur stance.

There are two sides to every story, and we only heard his! Why bring up such a minor incident, anyway? He was probably behaving like an ass. I do greatly admire him for refusing to photograph fur, however.

Exactly. My mom was a model in Europe (mostly Milan) in the 90's, and she met Cindy Crawford (and many of the other 90's supermodels) and she said that she was very nice. I'm guessing there are two sides to this story.

Cindy Crawford has always had a great professional reputation, or I'm sure we would have heard many, many stories like this in our gossip-hungry world. I'm not clear why Bruce Webb would publicly spread word about this 10-year-old, one-time, minor incident other than to get attention for his film series. It's hard to believe that the two are really friends.
