He has never been one to give in the signs of an ageing man – but it seems John Travolta has finally put the hair dye down.

Filming scenes for new flick The Forger, the actor showed off greying locks on set in Newton, Massachusetts.

The 59-year-old has been seen with a multitude of styles of weaves and wigs following the revelation that he has been going bald for quite some time.

Travolta went au naturel in Oliver Stone's Savages, filmed in 2011, which explained several strange haircuts as it showed he has been using wigs for years.

Although his new hair-do may be the result of a grey hairpiece, it shows that he may be ready to enter his 60s in his natural hair colour.

The Forger sees Travolta take on the role of artist turned thief Ray Cutter, ably abetted by the legendary Christopher Plummer, 83.

John's protagonist pays to get out of jail so he can tend to his sick son (Tye Sheridan) but he arranges to do one last job with his father Ray (Plummer) to repay the cartel that sprung him loose.

Then and now: John, pictured in January this year, is widely known for using weaves and hairpieces to hide his baldness, but at least he seems to have stopped dying it

Pride and Prejudice and Zero Dark Thirty star Jennifer Ehle is on board as Cutter's wife.

His role as thieving Cutter follows his confession that he is working on his dark side, longing to play the ultimate villain.

‘I’d love to play a bad guy in James Bond,’ he told the Daily Telegraph in an interview earlier this year.

John is a huge fan of the suave spy, admitting that he admires 007’s most recent reincarnation, portrayed by Daniel Craig:

‘I have two favorite Bonds: Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. They both have ruggedness, class and suave,’ he added.

It's a shame these people can't let themselves grow old gracefully and naturally. They all look hideous.
